There are times that I give really short answers that basically amount to "here's the keyword you need to search online/in BOL". Even in those cases, I make it clear that that's what I'm telling the person to do.
But I agree that this particular case was a little too little.

I think in the case being pointed out by Sliverfox, that the answer was a little brief, but not necessarily inappropriate. I would have probably would have included a link as well.

But I thought the frozen ones hurt more, Jeff. 😛
I used to think that but I did an experiment and found that if you cook them just right, the meat acts as an impact sabot for the bone. Works especially well on block heads. 😉

Here's an example of one of my favorite types of post. Question, who needs a stinking question?

I can handle this one.

Am tempted to reply to the non-question with just:
42
But that may be too obscure.

The question itself is obscure, so why not?

I took another look at the non-question. Seems to be a glitch in the forum software.... I just posted this reply:
= = = = = = = =
Somehow the text of the original question doesn't show up in the main post, but I was able to copy it from the annotation seen when hovering the mouse over the topic in the forum list. It says:
I'm trying to calculate MTD, YTD, DATE using the Case statement but the results I'm getting for MTD and YTD is incorrect, It is picking the date figure, hence, All three of my calculation are the same. Please assist
I still don't quite follow what the problem is, but perhaps someone else can.

edit:
Now I see that it's more likely that the quoted text was entered in the SUBJECT of the original post.

I almost posted that as a response but I thought it might tend to start a fight. Still seems appropriate.

Seems very quite here at the water cooler. That would mean everyone is behaving? 😛
Did I have a siting of Gail in the forums or was it just my imagination?
