Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • I know that some of the "Threadites" already chimed in, so I'm saying this for all the others: you really have to read Lynn's latest article[/url] and the discussion.

    Awesome article, excellent discussion.

    Edited: typos

  • Would someone want to help this OP out? I am not getting anywhere with this guy.

  • If he insists killing processes without knowing what they do, let him do it.

He already has decided to increase lock timeout and kill process, so, why bother?

  • Thats what I thought as well.. 🙂 Well, hopefully the OP will take the advice of GSquared 🙂

  • Is it me, or the forums are receiving less questions than before?

I often use the "Active Threads" link, but I get much less forums a day than I was getting some time ago.

  • It's up and down. I see varying numbers of posts each day.

  • just think about this thread how some days it may get 1-2 posts and some days it might be a fifty to one-hundred. It all depends on the topic and who's around...

Has it ever occurred to anyone here, that the op might be the SQL DBA for this company. Considering some of the questions that are received on this forum and by people who imply that they know what they are talking about, doesnt mean they are capable. and IMHO it is better to try and educate and fail then not attempt and fail anyways 😉

I've talked to her offline. She's just crazy busy with work and getting ready for the PASS Summit.

I took a look at this particular thread. I do agree with you, Silverfox, and I am usually one tht tries very hard in this regard. Sometimes, howver, it becomes very difficult to try and teach someone to fish when they show no desire to learn how to fish.

Sometimes when fishing, you have to not only supply the fishing rod, but you have to hold it for them as well, until they understand how to use it.

Some other times you have to explain that fish live in the water. You can't make it from that far.
