Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Who has the multi-barrelled pork chop launcher today?

Lynn, I tend to agree with you. Good post.

I think you mean Jibber Jabber

No please , no thank you , just "Sort my problem"

  • I just read the "jibber jabber" comment. It was over-the-top offensive, followed by smugness about his rudeness "working." I can't express my sentiments adequately without using language that would offend Lynn's sensibilities.... and he is being his usual tolerant self. But I will say that is one orifice of an OP whom I'll never try to help again.

Did you catch my response to his smugness? 😉

  • Yes, but he is too much of an *** to feel it. (Associate?, assistant?, asset?)

As far as he is concerned, his poor behavior was rewarded.

You've wasted too many words on him already, Lynn.

  • We'll have to wait and see. Future posts may (or may not) prove otherwise. Of cousre if he continues like he has I'd be surprised to see many of us regulars pitching in to help. He may start getting more of the newbies stepping in instead.

FYI, am in the hospital again, back problems (can't walk or even sit up), was admitted through the ER yesterday. as before, if you guys could cover for me here, I would be eternally grateful.

Sorry to hear you're not well, Barry.

I'm having problems with my back too (not that bad, fortunately). Damn Air Conditioning!!

All my best wishes, get well soon!

Oh, Rats! I completely forgot about your article review, Gianluca. I will still try to review it, but I would strongly engourage you to get someone else too so that you do not have to rely on me (I am definitely at minimal capacity here). Sorry, ... 🙁

Don't worry, Barry! Just forget about it! All your energy must be put towards getting better now!

I already got some precious advice from Jeff and also Gus said he would have a look, so don't worry: looks like I'm in good hands.

You can read it to fall asleep if the morphine doesn't work...:-)

    Get well soon!

I'll finally have time to review it tonight. (It's been a busy week.)

Thanks Gus, et. al. You folks are the best bunch of buddies a guy might never meet. 😀

My session is going to be VERY basic. Be warned. If you're worried about falling asleep...

Grant, It's not your session I'm worried about. Steve's the one that might have the biggest challenge to keep me awake....

Heh, I sure hope that's not a common problem for Steve! 🙂

  • Ouch, that's not good. That means I did a lousy job.

One thing, and it's a biggie. Through out that book I refer to the costs of various execution plans as if you can compare one to another. I thought you could when I wrote it. I've learned better since then, so be aware, whenever this gets re-written, that'll get removed.

No, no, sorry. Misleading in my earlier comment. Your book is great, I just haven't had the time, scratch that, haven't *taken* the time to really dig into it and figure it out. I've read through most of it, but I'll pick it up and read a few pages here, a few pages there, and it's not that kind of book. 😉

    User error, not author error.

Or, I could just be saying that because I'm scared of your spork.:hehe:

Any one else agree with my sentiment here?

Honestly, I think that the biggest mistake that we make with these types is in rewarding them for bad behavior. I can understand disagreeing wit what information should be provided or even how to format it. But that's no excuse for being rude with no provocation.

Heck, I can even understand being rude and surly if you in a bad spot or are embarrased to need help. But none ofthese things are evident in this guys post or history.

He(?) just dosent want to do his part of the work and his response to being asked to is to insult those he is asking for help. If we reward behavior like that then he will just feel empowered to treat the next person on these forums the same way. And the only thing that he will ever really learn here is exactly what he said: "the O'eily method" (which is: to insult people to get what you want).

I think that we should be teaching better things than that.

Hey Lynn, will you check double-check my last post to Trudye? I'm using my spare keyboard and can't afford to headbash another.

Solving the problem will be easy once she coughs up a little more sample data.
