You know what everyone was saying about bad answers... well, take a gander at the following Microsoft KB:XL97: Data Not Returned from Query Using ORACLE Data Source
And I refer you to Method 2:
---
Method 2: Move Your Mouse Pointer
If you move your mouse pointer continuously while the data is being returned to Microsoft Excel, the query may not fail. Do not stop moving the mouse until all the data has been returned to Microsoft Excel.
NOTE: Depending on your query, it may take several minutes to return the results of your query to the worksheet.
I'll have to try that the next time I have a long-running query. 🙂

Anyone keen on several pages of cursor-ridden SQL, a badly explained problem, two threads and no data?

Would you mind please moving your post to the other thread? They're both the same problem and having it being answered in two place is going to make matters worse, not better.
Thanks

Sure - no probs Gail...
Though on this site if you asked me to write "all rise for the great GilaMonster" on the forum thread, I'd not only do it, but ask you if you want me to post it on all the active threads 🙂

Don't you just love these? Of course when it starts, they don't bother to provide data that is represetative of the problem they are trying to solve.
Heh. "Somebody's Gumpy" 😛

I think I'll stick with the bamboo shoots for now. After looking at the code, it would take too much effort just to reformat the code so that i could even start to make heads or tails of what is going on.
Not worth the effort right now.

FYI, am in the hospital again, back problems (can't walk or even sit up), was admitted through the ER yesterday. as before, if you guys could cover for me here, I would be eternally grateful.Yes, get well quick! Hope it isn't a big problem and that it has a fast solution.
No problem Barry, we've got your back... Wait, maybe that's the problem... 😛
Yeah, come on Lynn. Give Barry back his back. He needs it.
It doesn't have to be the same one, I'll gladly take a replacement. 🙂
I've already had two major back operations: in 1989 and 1978. I didn't mention it when everyone was talking about martial arts, but I was a Judoka in college. My first back operation put an end to that.
(fyi: please excuse the typos and spelling errors, this hospital keyboard interface is extremely hard to ue.)

Ouch. Just noticed it's not just cursor-ridden, there's a 4-level deep nested cursor in that code.

I'm having problems with my back too (not that bad, fortunately). Damn Air Conditioning!!
All my best wishes, get well soon!
Oh, Rats! I completely forgot about your article review, Gianluca. I will still try to review it, but I would strongly engourage you to get someone else too so that you do not have to rely on me (I am definitely at minimal capacity here). Sorry, ... 🙁
