Seems to be the week for folks like that. I don't think you were bad in your response either. I always try to at least be polite. Well, except when posting on this thead, so I hope no hiring managers find this thread in google:P
Yeah, in theory this thread is a bit of a give away.
Believe me, the post I put up had gone through an editing process. Actually a couple of editing processes. Had to remove the four letter words first.

I think you did alright, Grant. Typical response for people that don't want to think about issues, just solve what they think is the problem.
Thanks Steve, and everyone else.

Sometimes, however, you get stuck and can't see the forest because of the trees. That's when a fresh perspective on the problem really helps.
I agree, I was going back to what started this thread really. The lack of wanting to understand a problem but just give me the quick fix answer attitude... I'm obviously doing it the wrong way round!
I may well have to post a question soon about replication, but I'm doing the research at the moment!
Rodders...
It's nice that you spend the time to research a bit before posting. I'm always amazed at how many forum posts from this site get indexed by Google.
And quit taking this thread back to the original topic. The OP is a quack.

I think that step one is to just not reply to persistent bad actors like this. Don't feed the beast, so to speak.
I agree with Barry 100% here. I often wonder what the bad actors would do if the first person to reply sent them the link to how to properly ask questions (or maybe a link on manners) and then everyone else just left it alone. After a few tries, the message might sink in.
My wife works with challenged children, many of whom have behavioral issues. She tells me one of THE most effective ways to extinguish bad behaviors is simply to ignore the person behaving badly.
Caveat: My wife has LOTS of patients with small kids who have never been taught any better and NO patience with "stupid grownups."
That said, let me compliment all of you on your fantastic expertise and your phenomenal patience. The combination encourages people to keep coming back. I've certainly gotten my money's worth and am not asking for a refund. 😉

I really like the comparison to some of the posters here to challenged children.

Comparison? How can you infer that?
Heavens no, I would NEVER think of making such a comparison. :hehe:

Good - you wouldn't want to be insulting to challenged children. That wouldn't be nice.

Just remember, he also explained the difference. The chanllenged children have been taught. The "bad" posters, however, are supposedly responsible adults.

Someone else will answer it, and possibly with a bad answer.
I've seen that done a couple times, someone replied with just that link, then a couple hours or day or so later, a relative newcomer (20 or so posts) comes along and posts a bad answer to the question

Hey Gail,
I see you suggested turning the safeties off to my bestest friend. Holy cow! Triggers calling unsafe CLR code. That ought to be entertaining. Some consultant somewhere is going to make a mint.

At least she told him NOT to use it in a trigger. Now we are all pretty confident he will, but at least he's been warned. I can see the post now:

Pity it won't be me.
It took me all of 20 sec or so to find that on google, and our friend spent how long complaining that it wasn't possible?
