Yeah apparently a different person. Which is why I pointed out the user name. Guys like that need to be slapped, but I really want to see their solution. I bet it would kill the SQL Server.
Are you sure bsrlong and gjyothi aren't the same person?

Not since his last post. Kind of confused by that one. Doesn't even seem to have the same literacy level from post to post. Weird.

I'd just like to add my thoughts about the Reporting Services question...
Assuming the OP and bsrlong aren't the same person, and it's not some ruse...
If I were the OP I'd ignore bsrlong and go with Jack simply because I would know I'd get feedback and discussion from Jack, even if his suggestion isn't the "best solution"...
If everyone answered the questions with "As soon as I do find a solution I will not just post a reply I will attempt to have a document available" we could all be waiting a very long time for any suggestions/ answers...
This is a community after all.
I've been a member for some time, only posted a couple of questions, mainly due to the fact that by using the search faculty (yep there is one!) I've found similar questions with workable answers. I'm also a bit old school in trying to fix problems myself (I know that's just wrong!). I've also managed to reply to one or two when I've managed to see a question that hasn't been answered that I knew the answer to.
Obviously I have been able to answer most questions I've seen, it's just that someone else has beaten me to it!:D
I just want to add my thanks to Steve (and the others who formed the site) for the site, and the major league posters who take the time to answer questions or post articles.

Nothing wrong with trying to fix a problem yourself. Some of us still do that as it also reinforces solutions. I learn better by doing it myself than having it handed to me on a silver platter. Sometimes, however, you get stuck and can't see the forest because of the trees. That's when a fresh perspective on the problem really helps.

I agree, I was going back to what started this thread really. The lack of wanting to understand a problem but just give me the quick fix answer attitude... I'm obviously doing it the wrong way round!
I may well have to post a question soon about replication, but I'm doing the research at the moment!

I guess some people just want immediate gratification and if they don't they'll let you know it.

Couldn't agree more. It's very satisfying to get it done yourself but I never hesitate to throw my hands up, admit "defeat" and seek advice when I need to. Usually the one's that I get stuck on - the solution is SO obvious but I've gotten myself so twisted in knots that I just can't see it. That's when the fresh pair of eyes comes in nicely and that's what makes sites like these a very handy tool - plus it's cheap! 😉
Edit - Plus, I heard Steve's giving out refunds if we're not satisified :w00t:

I think you did alright, Grant. Typical response for people that don't want to think about issues, just solve what they think is the problem.

This site gives you more bang for your buck than many other sites in my opinion.

Actually, I thought that you were very restrained, Grant.
This guy has talked smack here before, both as an OP and as a responder, never apologizes either. I think that step one is to just not reply to persistent bad actors like this. Don't feed the beast, so to speak.

I liked this from Gail
This is not the first time that you've criticised the free help that you're getting here. If you want a solution to your exact specs, with no questions asked, hire someone. We're doing this in our free time.
Nice! maybe Steve can sort a refund there as well.:)

Seems to be the week for folks like that. I don't think you were bad in your response either. I always try to at least be polite. Well, except when posting on this thead, so I hope no hiring managers find this thread in google:P
