From the "Boy, I feel stupid" department, can someone look at and answer this AG question? Availability Group didn't get secondary DB added? โ SQLServerCentral Forums

Somedays my job can be frustrating...
**WARNING**ย Poor, poor pitiful me whine incoming!
All set to go to my first ever Summit and the nitwits who control the budget were at an impasse.ย Because of the way our budgeting works, I couldn't even be on a flight HOME if things had shutdown, I had to be AT home, couldn't even be driving home from the airport!
So, I had to abort and cancel the trip.
The bright side, at least, is now I've done the process to apply for approval for such a trip to be paid for by my employer, so as soon as next years dates are announced, well, that's when I'll get the ball rolling.
So, anyone know when the dates of Summit 2024 will be announced?

Nov 4-8, back in Seattle.
Sorry you missed it, but I get the concerns over a shutdown. You missed a great event, but I bet next year is better. More people this year, the event ran smoother, and should do well in 2024.

Time to ask the boss if this is too early to start the process for next year!ย ๐

Registration isn't open, but you can sign up: https://passdatacommunitysummit.com/twentyfour/
That way you can get the lowest price when it opens.
I do think they're pretty good about moving registration to other people in the org, so if you were to leave, your boss could still find someone to go.

Pun intended, I think that your top few overall forum posters should get a free "PASS".ย You might want to incentivise new posters by doing the same for the top few post counts for the year 2023.
Of course, there should be some measure as to the usefulness of the posts.ย For example, a post containing the single word "Agreed" would not qualify in the count.ย This is all in a database and should be pretty easy to do.
And, for the first category, "Must be present to win".ย For example, if you don't have at least a few hundred posts for the year, you don't qualify for the first categoryย That would leave Gail Shaw out (man, I miss her here).
Call it the "Redgate SQL MVP" service award an have two categories... "Continued Service" and "Rising Star". ๐ย You can have regulars do the judging on usefulness, as well.ย Articles that get more than 3 stars might also be considered.ย You could also have those people appear in a special appearance at PASS 2024 and maybe drive up active membership, which would also enhance exposure of RedGate advertising on the site and to the world.
Then, fix the fix the bloody forum posting problems to make more people stay and, please, stop double spacing the code. ๐

lol.
Not sure we'd get tickets for posters, but it's not a bad idea.
I agree on fixing some things. Quite a few were delayed because of upgrade work. (Linux->Wordpress->Nami->Forums) all dependent links, but now that I have a break, I'll be pressing some people to get the WordPress upgrade moving, which will help us fix some things, and then dev work to fix others.

Thanks for the feedback, Steve.ย When you're ready, I've identified the likely reason why certain problems occur, such as the "post offset" issue and the issue with the first post on pages not showing up until another post is made.ย I'd be happy to help if needed.

Please, post what you think is wrong. I haven't really looked at the PHP, but our developers say they can't determine where the calculation problems happen, so any help is good.
Especially as I'm not sure when I'll get resources to upgrade.
