I'd take a slightly different tack on this.  If it's something a developer can fix quickly because it's something simple, get it done.  Quickly, of course, is entirely subjective (my feeling?  Get it fixed in one working day or less, go for it, more than a day, back-burner.)

If it takes an entire day to fix support for animated gifs then something is seriously broken in the architecture because that should be super simple.

If you consider the time spent on writing the story/bug, point it, plan it on a sprint, start the sprint, attend the daily stand up, work on it, document it, create a branch on git, review the changes, merge the branch, deploy the changes to QA, test that nothing broke, remind the developer to document something they missed, demo it, approve the fix, assign to a release, deploy the release, and all those things that I forgot to include, then a day seems about right.  ^_^'

And here I was going to say, if it was more than flipping a bit in the config file from 0 to 1 (gif_supported=1 sort of thing,) a day wouldn't be too bad, but yours is much better.  🙂

Heh... I wouldn't call it a "giant leap backwards" but I was definitely fond of that avatar.  However, if they spend even a second of time considering that as a problem before they fix attachments to posts/articles and links to the rest of the world that has copied old hard coded links... well... Ok, maybe 'giant leap' was a bit much, but it is moving backwards in my book. 🙂

    Totally agreed.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

  • You do have to wonder if someone is maybe a little out of their depth trying to use SQL Server, when they post photos (not screenshots) of computer's screen. One would hope that they at least have awareness of the print screen key. ??

You don't even need to use the Print Screen nowadays. You can use the snipping tool that comes with Windows.

  • While I think some people are silly, I didn't know that print screen still worked. I have a capture tool (Greenshot), but lots of people never need screenshots. My wife will come grab one from my screen rather than figure out how to do one.

That being said, I think Thom's response was fine. Use the print screen button. Of course, on my laptop, not quite sure how I'd access that.

You probably have to hold the Fn button down while you press another key, what I have to do on mine. Must admit, it makes some some real awkward key presses when you want to screenshot a window instead.

Whatever tool you use though, screenshotting, snipping, capture tool, the readability is far better than a blurry photograph.  ??

Lordy... it even fixed the "quote" button for me.  I hope we don't actually have to clear cache in FireFox on a regular basis.  that would suck pretty bad.

I was also getting a whole lot of 504 errors and that seems to have cleared up after clearing cache and I'm also able to edit my posts now, as well.

Quoting for me seems to be somewhat random. Sometimes it works great, other times it is a hot mess (see my quote from Thom A above).

    --EDIT--

This time it seems the quote worked perfectly. 🙂

  • Quoting is a big challenge with styling and code. Really, I'd urge you to avoid hitting quote every single time. In this thread, it is often helpful, but in most threads, it doesn't add anything. The previous code, the notes, they're just extraneous repeats.

If you like seeing the reply you're responding to, hit quote, but delete the quote part before posting. I'd really like to

    a) get the quotes to format in the reply text box

    b) get some way to see the post you're replying to outside of a quote.
