xsevensinzx - Sunday, December 16, 2018 3:22 PMWas reading an article when I came across this excerpt. Figured the community would enjoy it.Vaidya left YouTube in 2012 and became the lead engineer at Endorse, which got acquired by Dropbox, where he worked for four years. But in the meantime, the engineering community strayed toward MongoDB-style non-relational databases, which Vaidya considers inferior. He sees indexing issues and says that if the system hiccups during an operation, data can become inconsistent — a big problem for banking and commerce apps. “We think horizontally scaled relationship databases are more elegant and are something enterprises really need.
Interesting. Do you have a link to the article?

It's about time! I got an early Christmas present today when I received my Redgate activation keys. π
Had the tools approved at previous employer but at the last second was canceled when the project shifted to MongoDB. The second time was just a no go after I submitted my business case. Third time's the charm I guess...
First thing I'm doing in the new year is instituting a proper CI process.

Lol, fair enough...maybe not the first thing. But since I just started a few months ago at my new employer I donβt have much vacation time. So sadly, it wonβt be too far off in the new year.
Also, considering the wild west show I inherited I'm all too happy to get some professional tools to help me out. π

Eirikur Eiriksson - Friday, December 7, 2018 6:37 AMEd Wagner - Friday, December 7, 2018 6:32 AMHeh - I've done #1 by jotting down a couple of notes on my phone or writing it down. I keep forgetting about #4. π I've also been known to text myself once in a while.Forgot #7, have a t-shirt printedπ
π
I've occassionally used #8: write it in biro on my shirt cuff. And number 9: decide to forget it - which tended to guarantee I wouldn't forget it.

Number 10, in my house, is to spend so long shouting at 'Alexa' to set a reminder that I get seriously PO'with Alexa and just remember that Alexa annoyed me by not setting a reminder about what I needed to be reminded about. A meta-reminder if you will.

Same to you, Steve and thanks for what you do. You make this site "SQL Christmas" for the whole year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through "The Room",
The servers were humming and no apps have gone "Boom'
This is all possible because we worked as a Team,
And I, for one, call it a true "DBA's Dream".
Merry Christmas to all and to all, good night.
