Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Pretty sure this is a prime reason why people are still using the ANSI-89 JOIN syntax: Is this query correct? Why haven't textbooks with this syntax, other than to say "This is how you would have written the query 30 years ago", been burned yet?

Because it still works for correlated sub-queries and is required there. 😉

It's also a lot shorter to write than inner join or cross join if you have something like a generated tally table and you just want a load of cartesian joins.

Are you really lumping correlated sub-queries and JOINs in the same bucket here Jeff? :hehe:

  • So this slow query guy seems to not be answering up to any of his 3 threads. Is he really that busy or does he not like the answers we're giving him?

Sorry, Jeff, but I don't think he's as clever as you think he is, or as he says he is.

Well, as far as I've seen, he got banned here from reports, all his threads on the StackExchange nextwork got locked (promptly) and his MSDN topic locked yesterday. Not sure where he can reply now without making a new thread.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same person, are we? (I can't unsee that name).

I'd love to see the MSDN and StackExchange links if we are and you have them.
