Are the posted questions getting worse?

Shifting gears a bit... I've been forced into using O365... My initial impress is that the online version of Outlook sucks.  You can't collapse the "Today", "Yesterday", "Last Week", etc, groups.  Rules don't have an "Apply Rules Now" selection, either.  From what I've been able to find out on Yabingooglehoo, these problems have been reported by many for years and not even a glimmer of hope yet for them to bring that functionality back.

MS proves, once again, that "Change is inevitable... change for the better is not".

You should be able to download and use Outlook as a client, even if O365. That's what we have, but I'm not sure I ever have used the online version.

You definitely can. I just signed into my Office 365 (Home) account, and it's there. I doubt that Business would be any different (assuming that what you're using?). If it is home,  then:

    1. Go to http://office365.com.
    2. Sign in (top right corner)
    3. Go to "My Microsoft Account" (Top right again when you click on your profile icon)
    4. Click Services and Subscriptions on the top navigation bar
    5. Find your Office 365 Home subscription, and click install on the right hand side
    6. Download or Install the relevant version of Office (defaulted to 32bit for me for some reason, even though I'm on a 64bit PC).

Just in case anyone missed it... even the Gods of Google aren't gods.  Worse yet, they covered it up.  Some companies have just gotten too big for the britches.

Reasons why I try to lie about these things or not to answer the questions when I can.

This whole idea of protecting PII is laughable, considering that the government makes it freely available to anyone that wants it...

Heh.... now we know how they confirm the information.  Lots'o clickbait there... and then it ends with "pay us to see the report" which, of course, provides them with the info that you're actually a real person.  But totally agree that if you're alive, someone has something on you even if you've never logged onto the internet.

  • Ever have one of those days at work, where you feel like, despite everything going well, some potentially good stuff (both career-wise and pay-wise) coming down the pipe, and yet you feel like it's time to move on?
But you don't really want to move on?

    Yeah, that's me this morning...

Sometimes.  And then I search my memory and the job listings and realize that I would simply be jumping from fat to fire.  Remember that people don't leave jobs.... they leave managers and the cultures they build or don't build. 😉  I work for some great managers and work with a great team and have turned down some serious increases in pay because of the people that I'm fortunate enough to work with.

Which is what makes this all the more annoying for me.  I've got no issues with my manager or team lead or teammates, it's just one of those things that just popped up.
As the country song put it "I ain't got it all that bad."
Ah well, tomorrow's a new day.

Heh, or I'm doing my career in reverse.
Rather than "job hopping" to get experience at the start, then settling in at one place until retirement, I'm doing it backwards...
    :hehe:

  • Do you think you're novelty-seeking (I know it well), or is there an issue with a particular person?

My current job is both the best and the worst one I've ever had. I never want to leave but also regularly feel like I need to quit :D.

I wonder how much of that we consider PII. I've heard Address is PII, but this would indicate that I couldn't be prosecuted for retaining a name and address. Now, I didn't see DoB, or some of the other info I might consider PII myself. Addresses shouldn't be, as they're a known domain of values for any particular area. The ownership or residence is also public record for homeowners, which I find to be problematic and also important.

My current job is both the best and the worst one I've ever had. I never want to leave but also regularly feel like I need to quit :D.

I'd lean towards novelty-seeking (never heard that term before, but it sure seems to fit!)  No issues with any of my team-mates or bosses, heck I even get along with the various application developers despite making them follow the various procedures to get things done!  (Mostly, I think, because I help them get through said processes on the first try)

I'm wondering if it has to do with the type of position I'm in.  I'm a full-time employee on a term assignment that the term is up in 2020.  At which time, the org will almost 100% continue the position, but because of the rather PITA rules around here, I'll need to re-compete for my own job again...
    :crazy::crazy:
Of course, there's ways they (the org) can "game" the system such that there's really only one person qualified for the spot, but there's no guarantee that's what'll happen...
And, frankly, I don't *want* to move on to another spot...
    I *like* it here!

So yeah, might be a bit of novelty-seeking and a bit of "crap, that's coming" together...

Same here brother  #Truth.   Money is important however if you are seasoned and not just starting your career then you should be doing very well in the 6 figure neighborhood. An extra 5 or 10, maybe 15 grand sounds awesome but generally if something if far outside of market there is a reason and those reasons will be your demise. Money can only BUY you for so long before you simply can't stand what you do and who you do it with, like a bad marriage.

I am only a month and a half in with my current employer however so far the other managers and my team are all simply fantastic. Building relationships and friendships makes your work fun and rewarding.
