I hope he's OK.
He still posts over at SO pretty frequently. To be honest I spend a lot more time over there lately. Even though the attitude is pretty crappy, at least the software works.
Yowch! Hey, Steve Jones... tell the folks at RedGate. We're losing the good guys because of the crappy forum code! Time for them to make an "investment".
Certainly didn't mean it as a slam but it is true. The forum code is just horrific for posting code and links. I often just give up when posting answers because it is so frustrating.

No details yet, but word has been spread that Robert Davis has died. I'm so very sorry to be the one to pass this on to you all. However, I thought you'd want to know. I understand that a GoFundMe or similar will be put together for his family. I can pass information in here as I get it.

A few weeks back, we were all sharing our "can you top this" pictures of potholes.
Route 30 is one of two major roads to the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Last year, they attempted to add a layer of asphalt because the roadway sunk. Two weeks ago, they restricted it to one lane each way. Three days ago, the closed the entire roadway. Just in time!

I'll bite. Not this year, fortunately. The collapse of Colrain road in Sandton.
It's at the bottom of a dip. The rains overwhelmed the drainage system (not uncommon, happens almost every time it rains) and washed the road support out.

Hi Guys,
I'm struggling with using EXECUTE AS to assign a server-level permission to an account - could I ask somebody to see if I've just done
something stupid here, please?
Thanks for your time.

Wow what a weekend. My oldest was playing in the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) championships competition in Fort Wayne Indiana. He rode the bus with all the bands. My wife and I put in 2248 miles of windshield time from Thursday through Sunday afternoon. It was amazing to watch and hear some many incredibly talented musicians of all ages. My son's band got second place in the Youth Open division. Very proud of him and his accomplishments. Glad to be home but kind of wishing I had a day of relaxation before coming back to work today.

Let's play. This happened last year in Mexico city.
And after 4 months of repairing it, it took only one month to find this in the same area.

I saw some potholes in Philly the last two weekends, but nothing like that.
My break was coaching volleyball. Good weekend for my 14s at 5-3.

Great job! I used to be in and then help with the youth brass band in the area, chaperoned one of those trips. Great fun! (and great music!)

Awesome what instrument? I played in a few brass bands about a million years ago. And I started playing trumpet again. My sons music teacher invited me to play with our city brass band so picked up a cornet for the first time in 30 years less than a year ago. Played two concerts with them so far and have started playing trumpet in a local rock band. Having been a bass player in bands for the last 25 years or so this is a big change for me.
