Any one hear from R Barry Young lately?

Now that you mention it, no.  I hope he's OK.

He still posts over at SO pretty frequently. To be honest I spend a lot more time over there lately. Even though the attitude is pretty crappy, at least the software works.

Yowch!  Hey, Steve Jones... tell the folks at RedGate.  We're losing the good guys because of the crappy forum code!  Time for them to make an "investment".

I went to a "Killing Cursors" session at SQL Saturday 700.  It wasn't really about killing cursors.  I was thinking about perhaps doing a presentation about eliminating cursors and he did start a series of articles back in 2009.

Just curious... what did the session end up being about if not about "Killing Cursors"???

More about reading execution plans, dynamic SQL, CTE's (regular and recursive).  I wrote a procedure that eliminated the speakers while loops and she said it really did meet the requirements of her presentation which, by the way, looks like it may be getting a rename.

Wow, now she just jumped down my throat because I refactored her code and sent it back to her.  If she hadn't freely offered her sandbox to everyone in her presentation, I wouldn't have been able to do it.

Certainly didn't mean it as a slam but it is true. The forum code is just horrific for posting code and links. I often just give up when posting answers because it is so frustrating.

Boy, it's going to be a lonely, quiet day today...
Of the other 5 members of the team I'm on:
    4 are work-from-home today
    1 is on vacation

    Who needs human contact?

It's weird. Last week my wife was in Boston with my daughter. Other kid worked late and didn't come home a couple nights. Just me trying to work in silence and dogs staring at me. Very odd. I'm usually alone, but my wife pops in and out and kid usually home around 2-3.

On my telework days, I *have* to eventually turn on a radio or something, and ideally to a news or talk station or I start getting real antsy and can't focus on work.

At least, while I'm the only team member in the office, there's other people in the office from other teams, so there actually is *some* human contact, just not people I normally interact with much.

    My favorite would be:

Sorry, I kind of meant that to be more a semi-humorous / semi-sarcastic comment.  Please, do not refrain on my account.
