My kingdom for me to finally have a backup person, or even better, a co-DBA...
So, any given Tuesday?
Friday, 4:30pm. Every. Week.
You people all have it too easy if it's only one day per week or only once per day (or even, if you're lucky, both). Just wait until you are retired and getting a little old (and maybe a little decrepit); then either you or your spouse will have that problem several times per day every day. (Or both will, perhaps).
But of course those without spouses may avoid this problem in retirement so will never experience the extremes to which this problem can reach.

Luis Cazares - Tuesday, January 30, 2018 1:16 PMI started interacting with Pervasive SQL and it's frustrating. Why do people pay for a product that won't work as well as many other free products that have been well tested and have great communities to help?
Hopefully, this won't be a main focus on my daily work.
Btrieve gets to be a side job for a while, I am afraid to tell you Luis. As you mentioned - it isn't the most stable of platforms, even after the name change.....

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

Noticed every morning this week there's been able 2-3 pages of unicode character topic names, then the post is all in Chinese. They, however, all disappear I report 3 of them though, so at least it looks like that feature is working. 🙂

Good to hear. Off for vacation for a couple days, but I'll try to do some reporting on if the hidden post count is increasing.

Enjoy! Hope it's warmer where ever you are that it is in the parts of the UK right now! Although I expect it's comparatively warm here compared to some people's weather this time of year.

It's amusing to post a reply to a blog post, which is asking people to try to guess where some really janky SQL code came from (but not give away where it came from) and critique it, and get a "HUSH YOU" from the blogger...
And a "gold star" from one of the other bloggers on the site...
Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

Great Googly Moogly.
Referencing a recent thread, and several of you know the one, I posted on Twitter that simply moving a query into a view will not improve performance.
One person after another has stumbled up to explain to me what a materialized view is (not what I referenced) and how of course they enhance performance (never said they didn't). I respond to them say, yes, you're right, a materialized view can enhance performance... but not a regular view. To which I get again, yeah, but a materialized view....
GAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
I'm calling it. English is dead!
Where's that damn Esperanto dictionary.....
I'll be in the tent!
