At risk of politicizing The Thread, has anyone noticed any shifts in their workplaces due to the current #MeToo / Sexual Harassment movement?

I'm curious to see how far this has filtered down (if at all) into places that the news media hasn't picked up on yet.

Pretty small company here (about 70) so not noticed anything at all.

Nothing here, we all harass each other as much as we did in the past.

Thanks for a much-needed chuckle, Lynn. It's much the same here.
We have discussed the #MeToo issue, I guess to concede/confirm that serious issues will be taken seriously.
Then we got right back to ripping the pi$$ out of each other.

Nothing I've seen from Redgate yet.
PASS on the other hand, we're looking at doing more than we already have in dealing with harassment. No details, of any kind, to report, but it's on our radar, yes.

Nope I try to stay in our little hallway of cubes and avoid talking to as many people at work as possible. This is not because I am scared of the light or an introvert, it is because I can't deal with average level of stupidity around the office which is quite staggering. Although I have considered making it a requirement that nobody can speak to me in person and all communication must be done through email. That way there is a record of all communication. πŸ™‚

Why do people think starting new threads for the same issue will help them get the answer(s) they are looking for?

Because they think maybe other people will see the new one that missed the first one.

Possibly not inspired by, but in my review last week my boss and I had a very in-depth discussion about what the company could do better in terms of diversity (and it's pretty good already). It was an interesting and productive conversation, I think

Because they didn't like the answers they were given (it told them how to do it, not gave them the SQL to run), thus if they ask again, someone will do their work for them. πŸ™‚

I've found recently, that there's rarely a week (and often day) where the staff stupidity doesn't amaze me. Today we had someone call to tell us their monitors weren't working, they weren't displaying their desktop or a login screen. Turns out that for the monitors to display something, the PC has to be switched on! Surprise that... /facepalm

Not here. Pretty standard policy in our company and continuing the same way.

Told him I needed to do some research regarding 2005, just haven't had the free time.  And yes, I provided feedback on his query, but isn't that what we do here?

I am surprised, shocked, horrified, dismayed, thunderstruck, flabbergasted and down right gobsmacked to find out that adding one clustered index on one table did NOTHING to improve a 25 page query that references 10-15 different tables and has a 60 column GROUP BY clause that includes calculations with WHERE clauses that include heinous calculations on the columns.

There might just be a reason why former MVPs are, in fact, former. What utter shite for advice.

No, I'm not at all put out by this. Why do you ask?

It didn't change the weather forecast for CO, either. Still now snow. Try something else.

Not I. Yet. Going back in a  few weeks and I'll see.

It has, however, made me think a lot more about myself.

Yeah, but did you try the clustered columnstore index?

Visibility. Or they find the thread has gone sideways or the responses aren't polite. I can understand this. If someone does, and they didn't like your answers in a previous post, you can post that you provided an answer (or question) in another thread with the link, but leave it be after that. No sense arguing with someone in multiple places.
