I couldn't hold back. I just hate that people think that we're getting paid to do their job. I'm happy to help because it's fun and it gives me the opportunity to learn, but I don't need to adjust to their "speed" requirements.
It's not "arrogance". It's a sense of "entitlement" and that's 10 times worse. I feel sorry for his family because he's practicing being a "LUser".

I don't 'depend' on anyone here but I do learn tons by reading the questions and answers. Then I work backwards to figure out WHY and HOW the solutions worked. If I can't understand those two things then I can't use the code yet.
Personally I get annoyed when I see obvious homework questions. Those are my least favorites. And while most people call them out on it there's always one or two who provide an answer. They're not doing anyone any favors there.
So I have to write up a paper based on a Leadership case study. If I post the case study info here, will anyone write the paper for me?
I need it by a week from Wednesday. @=)
EDIT: This is for work. Honest! Not my MBA. Has *nothing* to do with my MBA.
Only if you'll do my stats data analysis project for me. 🙂

Not just arrogance but utter laziness. I saw a post from that person yesterday and mentally added them to my "warning list", I have now added them to my "do not bother" list.
Haha, I read that thread and updated comments before coming to this thread today. I actually made the comment that people will stop helping. Already, you are proving that statement for me.

Well a good leader knows how to delegate... you may need some more practice picking who to delegate the work out to though 😉

Terrible thing - entitlement. Funny how multiple generations can see the entitlement except that one generation that thinks they are entitled to everything.
Another trait that comes with entitlement is the inability to figure out how things work. They are great users of technology but haven't the foggiest when it comes to troubleshooting or tearing things apart to learn how they work. Maybe that is because they believe everything should just be handed to them. At any rate, that tidbit came from a professional speaker talking about bridging the gap between the generations and how to reach each of them differently (mostly geared towards sales).

Does that help?

There's an easy solution for that. Just get someone else to do the delegating for you.

jasona.work - Friday, April 14, 2017 6:12 AMSo a question occurred to me reading an article on a sysadmin who planted a logic bomb in a former employers' system...What would it take for any of you to do something similar? Presuming you had the means (whether it be a method of accessing the system from off-site, or something previously implanted that you prevent from executing,) how far would your employer have to push you before you would ignore the legal penalties and trash their systems? Not some "prank," like setting up something to change all the corporate desktop wallpapers to goatse.cx or something, but something that caused real damage to the company (the article states the sysadmin trashed the companies financial database)
Myself, I don't think I could do something like that, no matter how shabbily I was treated. Certainly I wouldn't speak well of the business, and I might even go so far as to publicly document my side of the story, but I wouldn't do anything to the actual companies equipment, etc.
What about you?
My thought is that as a DBA, you're supposed to be protecting the data. Doing something like this is not only illegal, it's unethical and IMHO worst of all leaves your reputation, integrity and character in question. It might make you feel good about doing it, but I would never do so.
Here, just click this link. You can trust me...

My comment would have been have your HR person contact me.
I can explain how speed is eluding them.
It's an illusion if you have someone asking a question that simple at this point in their career.
You should always be learning, but at some point you need sharper pencils to do the job.
Invest in training for your employees, or up the bar for consideration.
Give them a simple (or complex) task, set them in a room with a laptop, no internet and phone for an hour and evaluate what they come up with.
You will quickly have a lot of insight to potential down the road.
Everyone has gaps in what they know, and learn in different ways.
But how they approach a problem, especially if they do not solve it, shows a lot.
So as appalled as we are about the poster, should we not be as disappointed employers allow this to continue?
After all, you can see the writing on the wall.
Same problem just moves to another company at some point.
Learning on the job is great, but there are limits that cost us all.

Okay, I had an interview with a company that is doing a lot of work with SSIS 2012 and their main concern is that I have only worked with SSIS 2005/8. I know that the big difference is the Project Deployment model and I have reviewed that, but the recruiter thinks it would help if I found a training program. Any suggestions?
