    SEAN!

    SEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN!

    @whine <poke> <poke> @whine

BTW, this is me pretending to be one of those "I have EXPECTATIONS and people on this site need to help me NOW" people. So feel free to launch pork chops (I've got the grill all fired up and ready). @=)

Okay, where, I have to see what prompted this.

Oh, it's not on the forums. Sean sent me an email promising to review my articles "soon" so I thought I'd just mess with him in a public place. @=)

    Brandie, you are terrible...

    Keep doing it!

Since Microsoft was ever so helpful to remove database diagrams from Visio Pro (without telling anyone so we wouldn't buy the newer versions) what are people using to generate those for presentations, documentation, and such?

I wish I had a better answer, but I cling desperately to Visio 2010.  I've evaluated some other ER tools but they all seem too expensive or not enough features

It took me about 4 months to review the last article I agreed to review, so I suspect Sean has some way to go. πŸ™‚

Actually I already reviewed both of them and returned them to her. πŸ˜€ It helps that Brandie does a lot of writing already so even her first draft is far cleaner than many articles that are actually published.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

+1  They haven't pried Visio 2010 from me yet, no matter how much they wanted me to upgrade.  Everyone knows I have an old version and they all know why (I complained pretty loud).

  • Is a 200GB storage or less common for productive db servers? I know that I have a lot more in my laptops which obviously use cheaper storage, but it doesn't seem right to have such a limited space as the thread that wants to free 6GB of space because they run out of disk (and it's not the first time I see a thread like that).

In my experience, it's not common.  Then again, I may be spoiled because my network team really takes care of me where space is concerned.

Then again, I have seen when scenario A is budgeted, planned, purchased and set up.  Then scenarios X, Y, Z and AB^2 are implemented on the same server, problems do arise as hardware limitations are reached.

I suspect a lot of time these threads are people still using a Win2000 server as their primary database server and they are running sql2k along with it. I am shocked at how many people still are using sql2k. For that matter I am shocked at how many people are still creating new applications in VB6, Delphi, VFP and classic ASP.
