Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • A more pressing question is: how do we know how many replies this thread has? How do we know???

Not sure if it's just me or not.  Under forums, the "Latest" posts don't ever appear for me.  I just get an hour glass.  I "live" by the "Latest Posts".

I also think that it's terrible that we now have to click on "Notify me of replies to this post" instead of it defaulting to that like on the old forum.  I don't understand why anyone would not want to be notified of a reply to their post but that should be an option to opt out rather than a requirement to opt in for something that should be a default.

Also, where'd the "REPORT" a post button go?

"REPORT" is the flag icon right under the last line of your sig on the lhs.

Thanks, Chris.  I also figured out my problem with the "Last Posts" issue.  Because of a problem that the previous spam detector had, they had changed some of my settings which destroyed my ability to submit articles.  To fix that, I had to include SQLServerCentral.com in a "Compatibility Mode" setting.  Once I deleted that inclusion, things start working.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • I notice using FireFox that the wrap does so in the middle of a word.
I need to check other browsers.

If you refresh your cache, this should be fixed - we've updated the CSS that was causing this.

Put mouse over magnifying glass in bottom right of page (where Prev & Next buttons are)

You may want to add how to filter posts of people you are following if that is possible.
I like that the new software lets me know when you make posts, but not so interested in posts to this forum.

Not sure what you mean. Filter in search? In somewhere else?

    Fixed!  Thank you!

  • The forum became too difficult to read.
The text inside the buttons is too small comparing the size of the buttons.

Empty coloured (or not coloured) spaces occupy 80% of the pages, while the text is hardly readable.
And we're here for reading texts, not for viewing blue squares, aren't we?

  • The nasty weather is almost here. We are expecting an ice storm that starts today around noon and doesn't stop until sunday night. We are in the projected bullseye to get 1/2"+ of ice. Ugh!!! At least I have already been to the store and loaded up the cupboards for a long of weekend of family activities. I have a feeling our new holiday ping pong table is going to get a lot of activity this weekend.

  • I don't like the IFCode handling or the fact that it does not retain your formatting as it did in the older forum version.  Also preferred how the preview worked in the older forum version.

Not happy with this at the moment.

I heard about that on the way to work today, only I heard up to 1" of ice.🙁  There's only so much you can do to prepare for something like that and it sounds like you've done the important stuff.  I also make sure the gas tanks are full on the cars.  In the event of an extended power loss over a wide area, the gas stations won't be working.

    Stay home and stay safe.
