Actually, I could care less about baseball too.

Any thoughts on who's going to take the FIFA Confederations Cup this year?

  • Dang, gone for 48 hours, missed 50+ posts and one "ubernoob" (superboob?).

Gail, please don't think about not posting because of one jerk. You're better than that and I know it was a little frustration talking.

Grant - same thing. How can a "little man" (probably in more ways than one! must be compensating for a "shortcoming" - heehee) even attempt to call out some of our best contributors?

    And to question Steve? Blasphemous!

I seriously doubt it'll be the US, but I always hold on to the hope. Best guess... Not sure. I always enjoy watching Britain play, or Germany.

  • I don't follow the mens team that much, but last I heard, Costa Rica kicked butt against the US.

I have three girls, so I tend to actually follow the Womens World Cup a bit more.

Yeah, I meant football where ball is kicked by feet, not rugby in heavy armour. 😉

Our team frequently resembles a speed bump for the other teams, they slow a bit, roll over us, & keep going.

Although, we did OK (for us) in the last World Cup.

You submitted 3 in total? Which one's alternate and which one did they say no thanks to?

Actually, I submitted four in total. I had no idea I'd be considered for a spotlight session, so I submitted three, execution plan basics, data dude, & query tuning through DMV use, plus the spotlight session, best practices with execution plans. They rejected the basics & the data dude session. I got through on the spotlight session & alternate on the dmv use. Once I had the spotlight, I was honestly hoping they'd reject all the others.

When I got the invitation to submit a spotlight I just changed one of the existing ones from general to spotlight. Was easier than coming up with a new one. They accepted my one on stats as a spotlight and my one of the indexing DMVs as a general, and then classified the one on the plan cache as an alternate. I'm glad about the last one, I have no idea if I could talk for an hour on the plan cache. Talking for an hour on the four indexing DMVs is going to be difficult enough.

Britain and Germany don't play in this tournament. Only 8 teams are participating in the tournament. My money is on Spain (and it was on Spain before they bit New Zeeland 5:0). Off course Italy and Brazil are also good candidates. In any case the tournament is more of a general reversal for the organizing committee of the world cup.
