Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • The party at Telford was the single best Bits party that I've been to (disclosure, I've only been to the SQL Bits events since Nottingham, so any previous amazing party isn't on my personal measuring stick).

I got to walk out onto Iron Bridge for a quick picture. I really want to have a little more time this time to at least be able to cross it once. The history nerd and the tech nerd within me both demand it. Other than that... I can't tell you that I actually saw Telford, just the venue.

The bridge is pretty spectacular, it's made using carpentry joints apparently. At the time the technology to join large pieces of metal didn't exist.

The whole complex of museums of which the bridge is part is well worth a look.

is that what they label it as "networking evening" on the Tuesday?

No, Friday night. The costume ball.

Have they announced a theme yet for this year?

Apparently there's a speaker called "Ginger Grant". Very suspicious.

Perhaps there will be a band called "The Grant Boys", appealing to the younger attendees.

It's at least a full day trip but once you've paid to get in the pass is valid for a year. Admittedly, that may not be too useful when most of that year is spent in another country!

I can well recommend the chips cooked in beef dripping they sell at the Blists Hill museum.

Yep I can vouch for Ginger as well. Defiantly a real person.

Tuesday night networking... Oh bag packing and helping setup, has been the norm at previous events 😉

Oh the joy of the Liverpool bag packing - they arrived late - Simon had them in the back of his car and got stuck on the M6. We had everything ready. Then all the bags had almost been packed when JRJ ran in and said "Stop" We have it wrong for two of the sponsors. We'd put the packs for the stall for one sponsor in the bags by mistake. And the other had specific instructions on what was supposed to go in the bags... We finished around midnight. Thankfully there was a 24 hour bar in the hotel!

Wednesday last time was left open.

Thursday has been traditionally quiz night

Friday, big party, fancy dress, as Grant said, plus lots of other things on. At Telford there was a helter Skelter, it had a fair ground theme, fire eaters etc.

Grant I think Nottingham was the first time they really went for it on Friday night. Newport was Bond themed, with a casino feel but nothing on the scale of Nottingham. So you didn't miss much!

Ginger tweeted something about getting her having to come up with a disco outfit, so I don't know if the pre-con speakers know something?

Hugo would you like to comment on that? 🙂

I want to go, but oh man, Telford.

As a midlands boy this sentiment definitely made me laugh.
