well that's me done. I retire today so this will be my last post.I made it into the top 30 posters at one point so I did my bit.
Enjoy the rest of your careers, take the job seriously but not yourselves.
cheers

Congrats, George.
Just because you are retiring doesn't mean you have to leave The Thread. You are always welcome here and at the TitD. The Hippo will always let you in.
OK, that wasn't my last post, this is, just a thanks for all the replies. I intend to be a house husband so I had better learn how to cook, and of course there is golf to take up as well.
I may well be loitering outside the tent.
Good luck, looks like you are going to be busy;-)
😎
BTW, there are sometimes "amazing" cooking advises on the Thread so stay tuned.
Happy retirement George!!!!
I have to admit to being one of those who dive into the cooking discussions pretty frequently. I worked as a chef in my first career for right around a decade so I do tend to venture into that conversation when they show up.
I am currently working on my second attempt at curing my own bacon. Will post an update next week and let you all know how it comes out. As of this morning I can already tell the cure is going to be MUCH better than my original attempt.

Congrats George! Relax and enjoy life.
My wife found out that I can cook pretty well, and am not afraid to experiment with a recipe.
And like Sean, the smoker and bbq get a workout.
Golf - only part of that I'm good at is finding lost balls.
One hobby I found I enjoy is building custom cedar bird feeders.
I still dabble in technology, although at a much more relaxed pace.

Yes - my initial reaction was that it was a poorly planned sting operation. Answer here for your complementary visit by homeland security or the favorite law enforcement organization within your home country :w00t:

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

Is there any other kind? 😛
Whatever the spam was it didn't last very long as I can't see it at all. Was thinking some fraudulent spam sounded kind of tasty.

I would say that most of the spam that we get is obviously fraudulent, but this was blatantly fraudulent. It was offering fake passports, fake drivers licenses, and other fake documents.

With my first article for SSC accepted for publishing, I've already written a second (unrelated) article. I'd like to have a couple of people review it.
This article is meant to be part of a series of articles. Any recommendations on whether to complete all the articles before submitting them or submitting them as I complete them? Also, is there a way to share an unpublished article with potential reviewers?

George, enjoy your retirement and try to keep yourself busy and sane.
Brandie (and possibly others), take care. Let's hope that Matthew doesn't leave a big mess.
Drew, congratulations on the article. I usually write the articles in Word and share them that way before publishing, then just copy and paste in the site.

Thanks! I owe a lot to Chris, Graham, and Wayne for their comments on the first article.
MS Word adds so much bloat to HTML documents that I really hesitate to use Word. I just used the "Source" button on the article and copied the entire document and put it in an HTML document. I was hoping there was a better way. In doing so, I noticed that the way that Chrome (and Firefox and Windows Explorer) rendered the article was different when in the editor and opened as a plain HTML file. I did manage to fix it.

Enjoy retirement, but being retired doesn't mean you won't still have things to add to posts on SSC!

I just cancelled a trip for the first time in almost six years of travelling thanks to this hurricane. I am not pleased.I hope everyone down in Florida, and especially Orlando where I won't be this weekend as planned, stays warm, dry & safe.
+1 to both. I don't travel as much as Grant, but I was looking forward to being back in Orlando, where I got my real start in the SQL Community. If they reschedule SQLSaturday - Orlando I hope I can make it as I've only missed one and want to keep that number at one. I also was bringing my youngest son with me so he could see friends from when we lived down there, this would have been his first trip back since we returned to NH in 2011.

It's on working with intervals, mostly datetime intervals. The first article is mostly definitions and terms.
