would like to hear your Chinese restaurant recommendations ...

Go to Canal street. Face east. Turn right on Mott. Go down a block. Turn right. Thai restaurant on your right.

    Hmm... :-).

Following those directions on Google maps, it shows a place claiming to be a chinese & vietnamese restaurant.

Those Eastern dishes all look the same to me.

  • Shame on you, Chris ;-). No chopsticks in Thailand for one thing.

Following those directions on Google maps, it shows a place claiming to be a chinese & vietnamese restaurant.

This is making me faintly hysterical.

I heard a saying once - "You can get anything on Canal street." I guess it must be true.

So, enjoy them all. Have some Pho and Bon Mi, then some Pad Thai, then some Lo Mein. When done, roll yourself home. πŸ˜›

Taking my girls (7 & 9) to New York this weekend, does anyone have a suggestion on what to do there for their age?

    😎

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has an entire Egyptian temple inside. That's one of my favorite places to take kids. Lots to see. My favorite in the same location is the arms & armor exhibit. Then there's all the real art. Lots to see and it's in AC (supposed to be somewhat around here this weekend). Across the park is the Natural History Museum. Who doesn't love dinosaurs?

I second Grant's ideas - my daughter's 10 and she loves both of those places (we live in Manhattan). There both right on Central Park which is a great place to just truck around.

She also likes both of these restaurants; IMO the food's not very good, but the the kids go for them:

Jekyll & Hyde Club (haunted house themed pub food)

    Ninja (ninja themed Japanese food)

If you want to avoid the themed restaurants and focus just on good food, there are plenty of places to get great Chinese, Indian, Italian, Mexican. Let me know if you need any specific suggestions.

    Hope you have a blast

Coincidentally, I'll be in NY next weekend and would like to hear your Chinese restaurant recommendations ...

Go to Canal street. Face east. Turn right on Mott. Go down a block. Turn right. Thai restaurant on your right. I don't know the address or the name, but I loved that place. They bring out sauces to the table so you can spice your own food. Great stuff.

Thank you, Grant. After reading the reviews, I find myself unable to focus on my piffling TFS issues. I need food now.

I agree. I scrolled through several of their pages full of interview questions and every single comment was a glowing review and every single name is Indian. If those were real the names would have more nationalities represented.

This talk of food, is it home time yet? Almost. We have a box of booze on the boss's desk. Rare rums & whiskies and some stonkingly good rioja. None of my colleagues had ever tasted a sticky so I bought a bottle of this at lunchtime, for them to try. They loved it πŸ˜€

My go to is Wo Hop at 17 Mott Street (the downstairs one, not the upstairs). The place is a bit of a dive but the food is fantastic: best dumplings | sesame noodles | Singapore noodles in the city. Been going there for 25 years and still love it.

It's best as a late night place; if you go around normal dinner time (say 6-8) there will be a line; so if you find yourself with a hankering after a few pints it's ideal.

I didn't make it the whole way through, but I think most of them are horrible. I find it ironic that they can't spell the word "cache" and this is supposed to be authoritative. Based on my nausea with the answers, I must be completely unqualified.

Buffer Cash - that's winnings at the Black Jack table.

Hard to say why that would be in an interview.

Yeah, pretty clearly. Ah well. I wrote a very helpful comment too. It wasn't attacking or negative. It just pointed out that possibly a little further research was in order.
