Somedays, I envy you folks living in places that don't have "weather" like what we've had these past couple weeks...Last weekend, we had the windows of the house opened up, letting in the fresh air...
This weekend, we turned the furnace back on and saw a few scattered snowflakes...
It's winter here.
The highveld is a summer rainfall region.
It rained all weekend.

Interview time!So has anyone had anything along these lines before?
My favourite was the candidate who addressed every answer to my team lead, even though I was asking the questions. When my team lead quizzed him on that (on the way out of the building), he said he'd assumed I was from HR. 🙁
I would be terribly annoyed at that. Did he get the job?
The position he was interviewing for was my assistant/replacement. 😀
OUCH!
😛

70F a week or so ago, frost last two nights, 70F end of week. Many people have 1) colds, or 2) allergies, or 3) unknown sinus/throat/chough problem.

Had a guy tell me one of his most interesting projects was using the telephony API in Windows (94/95 timeframe) to write an app that he could ping to page his boss constantly when his boss annoyed him.
Needless to say, I wasn't interested in hiring him.

When I went to school in central New York, we had (at least) a couple of weather-related sayings:
"The four seasons here are winter, June, July, and August."
and . . .
"If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes."

Complete non-sequitur here guys, but I'm rather pleased with myself.
I just got my MCSA after taking 70-463 Implementing a Data Warehouse in SQL Server 2012/2014.
I had set a mental goal for myself to get it by January of this year, and while the date slipped a bit, i finally got it all done.

And of course make sure the contract explicitly spells out exactly what sort of post-work support will be provided and for how long. (Believe me, you want to avoid the "you touched it, you support *everything* on it now!" situation. My old employer ran into this more time than I care to count)
