Are the posted questions getting worse?

    Anyone? http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1763388-2799-1.aspx

It's not SQL Server (the UNIQUE gives that away at the least). I don't know what it is, and the OP keeps posting questions here that turn out to be MS Access or Informix or other.

It's aggravating he can't answer a simple question like what platform he's using but regardless the HAVING clause isn't valid SQL on any platform that I can think of.

They're probably not posting and just sitting back and waiting for someone to write the code for them. It's become all too common, but it's still sad.

Any XML gurus out there who would like to help?

    --Edit: fixed garbage English!

Heh... good grief. 1500 nodes. And it's not flat. It does contain a hierarchy. I've got some old code somewhere that will at least tell you what the hierarchy of the nodes is and produce some code to parse it but it's buggy on complex stuff because the reason why I wrote it is I hate XML and didn't want to learn much about it. πŸ˜‰

I don't know where the code is but I'll take a look for it tonight. No guarantees, though. It's been a couple of years since I've even opened the code, never mind used it.

I know ... my XML skills are not up to it and I wasn't excited to make them so!

Alan B has had a bash and the OP seems to be happy ... so far.

  • I don't know if anyone is aware of this but I noticed Dwain Camps hadn't posted anything in awhile so I checked his blog (dwaincsql.com), simple-talk, twitter, linkedin... then came across this while searching for him on Facebook.

    I'm absolutely heartbroken.

Oh heck. I knew he was unwell, we talked by email up until November or something. At that time his docs were telling him it was sciatica affecting his legs & back. I followed up with an email in December with no reply. I assumed he was so under the weather that he just didn't feel up to replying.

Stunned. He was fantastic to work with, intelligent, curious, inventive and upbeat. I've lost a friend, and the community has lost a unique member.

    Rest in peace geezer.
