So, a question for everyone:How do you feel if someone comes back and tells you that they tested a solution you provided before they told their bosses it was the solution?
I can see how some might take that as a "you distrust *MY* copious knowledge of this?" insult. I'm kind of expecting the answers to this to be more on the lines of "Oh thank heavens someone who doesn't just blindly accept what some random person on the Internet told them," but just in case...
On another note, for those in the US who happen to work in an industry that is affected, Happy Presidents day!
For those who still have to work today, well, been there, done that...
I would be totally overjoyed.
I always tell people to verify and test anything that they take from the internet. I am not nearly vain enough to think that I should be the exception to that rule.
Really, I wish more people would get into the habit of taking the internet with a healthy dose of salt.
Come on. People don't put stuff up there if it's not true.
Now wait just a minute here...are you telling me that everything on the internet is not 100% accurate??? First it was television and now this?!?!?!?!? What next? Pretty soon you are going to tell me that politicians make up stories just to get elected.
Or that virtual reality is neither virtual nor real.

We will be transitioning to "mountain time". Wake up, breakfast, try to get first chair, snowboard/ski until hungry, grab a quick bite, snowboard/ski until the lifts close, some apres ski possibly mixed in with dinner, a few adult beverages, back to the condo for sleep and do it all over again. Pure mountain bliss. Many years ago while still in the Air Force and stationed at Cheyenne Mountain Complex I did something like that. My parents had two time share condos in Vail and I was going to spend two weeks up there skiing. Sorry to say I only lasted a week. After seven days I was too sore and tired to go another week.
My days are going to involve getting up, checking the savanna for animals, going to a theme park, making it to my restaurant reservations, seeing cool things with my wife and daughter, enjoying fireworks at night and trying to get "it's a small world" out of my head. Oh yeah, and it's going to be much warmer than it is in Michigan. It'll be a nice break from the weather.
It won't work. I went to Disney World in the mid '70's and I still can't get that damned song out of my head! π
Yeah, we went on the ride today and the song has taken up residence. I must say that it's amazing how well they maintain things here - the ride is decades old and it looks brand new. They take maintenance seriously in everything.

Politicians don't make up stories... they actually believe their LOS is true.
No Jeff, they do make up stories; but their memory is so short tht by the time they've learnt the script they have forgeotten that they made the stories up and think they are true. And there are even some who know they are lying, but don't care because the voters who support them won't believe they are lying.

Kind'a what I was implying.
What's really sad is that out of all the people that are running in the two big parties, people like me are still going to end up having to vote for the lesser of two evils instead of for the best person to do the job, if you understand the distinction.

Two or three of your candidates this time around are so ridiculous that the entire rest of the reasonably civilised world is quaking with laughter. They won't find it so funny if any of them get elected - they'll be terrified that such a colossal buffoon should be in control of the largest military machine that ever existed.

Oh, I am not laughing. Not at all. I am concerned and bewildered. Mostly concerned.
(But perhaps I do not qualify as "reasonably civilized"?)

Likewise. With a side of terrified that one of the buffoons might actually get elected (and of the behaviour of some of the people who follow those buffoons)

However, in all honesty, we in the Netherlands currently also have our own special buffoon, and he is currently incredibly likely to become our next prime minister. I am not even sure if I can honestly say that the US buffoon is worse then ours. I guess it's a good thing that elections are still a year away, allthough I am not sure what needs to happen to prevent this dangerous man from gaining the power he wants.

Well, voting for the lesser of two evils is exactly what we're going to have to do. There's only one candidate I actually thought would do a good job, but he's no longer really in the race. Based on who it'll come down two, it's exactly for the one who I hope will not screw things up any more than they've already been screwed up. It's certainly a very sad state of affairs, but that's the two-party system we're stuck with.
I hope the laughter around the world isn't just humorous. Like Chris said, they're going to be commander in chief of the biggest military machine in the world. Hopefully there's some discernment and common sense that goes with that authority. Don't even get me started about domestic responsibility or the joke of fiscal responsibility.

I'm leaning towards the Palpatine / Vader ticket myself...
Or if they don't make it, Bill and Opus...
(I refuse to get into my feelings on the current US election or the current state of US politics in general)

So, saw Deadpool this weekend and I must say, it was really fun and quite funny.
They didn't overdo the "breaking the fourth wall" (if you're not familiar with the character, in the comics, he knows he's in a comic and being watched by the reader, so he occasionally talks to the readers,) and Ryan Reynolds NAILED the character.
Just one thing. It really, really, really earned it's R rating in the US. Don't take young kids to see this expecting a superhero movie, think more a raunchy R rated comedy crossed with an R rated action picture...
Jasons rating: Must see!

Jeff - care to run as a write in?
Maybe some frozen chops flying around might help knock some sense into things.
I have a few in the freezer I'd donate to the cause.
How horrible that things have evolved to money and mud slinging.
And it's hard to envision how even someone with good ideas could garner enough support to get any good ideas enacted.
We have a stretch of road on the west side of the cities, and every time someone dies, all the news is about spending millions to improve it.
Never mind it was someone driving too fast for conditions, or that just lowering the speed limit might be a better solution.
Can't wait until they suggest everyone drive a tank, then someone drives it off the side of a mountain.
Then it will still somehow be the roads fault.

What? You don't really believe that a buffoon with a particular haircut can be President just because he's supported by a TV network.
That's not for real is it? Oh wait, I remembered.
As Mike Wazowski said: "but hey, at least we had a few laughs, right?
