We will be transitioning to "mountain time". Wake up, breakfast, try to get first chair, snowboard/ski until hungry, grab a quick bite, snowboard/ski until the lifts close, some apres ski possibly mixed in with dinner, a few adult beverages, back to the condo for sleep and do it all over again. Pure mountain bliss. Many years ago while still in the Air Force and stationed at Cheyenne Mountain Complex I did something like that. My parents had two time share condos in Vail and I was going to spend two weeks up there skiing. Sorry to say I only lasted a week. After seven days I was too sore and tired to go another week.
My days are going to involve getting up, checking the savanna for animals, going to a theme park, making it to my restaurant reservations, seeing cool things with my wife and daughter, enjoying fireworks at night and trying to get "it's a small world" out of my head. Oh yeah, and it's going to be much warmer than it is in Michigan. It'll be a nice break from the weather.
It won't work. I went to Disney World in the mid '70's and I still can't get that damned song out of my head! π

So, a question for everyone:
How do you feel if someone comes back and tells you that they tested a solution you provided before they told their bosses it was the solution?
I can see how some might take that as a "you distrust *MY* copious knowledge of this?" insult. I'm kind of expecting the answers to this to be more on the lines of "Oh thank heavens someone who doesn't just blindly accept what some random person on the Internet told them," but just in case...
On another note, for those in the US who happen to work in an industry that is affected, Happy Presidents day!
For those who still have to work today, well, been there, done that...

Shocked that someone bothered to test.
Insulted would require the tone to be "I'm pretty sure this doesn't work, but I'll check just in case, by some miracle, it does."

I'd say "Thanks for the feedback". Here, each change to each piece of code is heavily peer reviewed and documented, at every stage of the route to production: not just an individual either - usually a couple of peers working through the code line by line with the dev.

I'd be happy as hell. I don't assume that I know everything, nor should anyone else. Trust but verify.

/me looks down, swings foot back and forth
I was the one who tested, and commented that the solution was correct.
(Which after I thought about the question I expected it to work the way I thought it should)
((Over here: When using Domain Groups to manage users, how will they show in Audits / Traces / etc?))
Now I'm trying to figure out Reporting Services, building a report that I can (hopefully) set up on my new work servers to spit out the most recent backup results for both me and the bosses...

Huh?
My comment wasn't a slight. If someone told me they were testing I'd be surprised because most people don't bother and assume that provided code is correct.

I didn't take it that way, I was trying to be a bit "cute" in my reply to you...
I probably should've put something in there to indicate such...

I would be totally overjoyed.
I always tell people to verify and test anything that they take from the internet. I am not nearly vain enough to think that I should be the exception to that rule.
Really, I wish more people would get into the habit of taking the internet with a healthy dose of salt.

I actually don't care what kind of a chip they may carry on their shoulder, I'm glad they tested it. Now, if we can just get people to test it (whatever IT is) correctly. For example, almost everyone on the internet that I've seen run tests on CSV splitters has done it wrong from both from a functionality/accuracy standpoint and a performance standpoint and that includes some of the serious supposed heavy hitters.
