At least he didn't name it WOPR ("shall we play a game?").

No, that's one of my domain controllers.

    It's an older box.

    😎

(Now I want to go and rename my servers after these machines...)

Oh, I know the WOPR reference. 😛 I think I still have a DVD of it somewhere. The 8" floppy disks and everything bring back such fond memories. Now we consider DVDs too small. Hey, I wonder if that's Jason's domain name. :w00t:

Mr Rushton sir, will you be attending SQL Bits this year?

I can't make your shindig this year, the rather excellent SQL Sat Exeter.... Plug plug fun, fun... Fantastic training days, etc...

    Rodders...

Rodders, my boy! Alas, no, I won't be at Bits this year - they keep changing the date, and once again have landed on a date when I'm busy with other stuff. Obviously, I would much rather be at Bits, but... 😉

Well that's a blow, dear boy!

It won't be the same without you etc 🙂

I'd have preferred the "other week" that was touted for a while as I have a clash Friday night, so going to miss out on Saturday.

    Rodders...

A clash on Friday night? Is this between the two notorious gangs, the South Side Oracles and the North Ridge SQLs?

Or did the East Bay NnoSQLs start getting uppity again?

No, that's my brother's name, so it's too easy to guess.

To be historically accurate, it would have to be the son's name.

    True.

Saw an article last night on expensive movie sets, War Games made the list. Interestingly, the article said that after the movie came out, NORAD spent a pretty penny to "upgrade" their systems to look more impressive...

  • I was just thinking about re-watching Wargames. Just went through Spaceballs while on the treadmill and it brought back memories.

That's one of those movies that I have seen hundreds of times and still watch it again if I'm flipping through the channels.

  • Back in the late 80's early 90's when mix tapes were the thing I had a War Games themed mix tape. I actually still have the record which has lots of audio from the movie. Made for a great mix tape as it progressed through the whole store with musical interludes between scenes. Ahh mix tapes...sometimes I miss those days of a full 90 minute mix that you can just rinse and repeat endlessly with the auto-reverse. 😛

You are dating yourself... but I, too, fondly remember making mix tapes, especially making them for that special someone at that time. Used quite a few songs from soundtracks - Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Valley Girl, The Lost Boys, Less Than Zero...
