    @Steve,

According to your blog, you might show up in Cleveland SQLSaturday for 2016. Any way of knowing for sure?

No, Cleveland is out. I've got a commitment with my daughter, and that wins.

I'm also striving to really limit travel. The updated schedule is here: https://voiceofthedba.wordpress.com/speaking-schedule/

I'm probably not looking to add anything in Jan/Feb, prob nothing in Mar. Apr and beyond is up in the air.

I would like to get to Detroit if there's another event.

Family always comes first but that's a bugger. Was looking forward to seeing you again, ol' friend.

    I will be there.

How about Portland, ME the first or second weekend in June? It isn't up on the SQLSaturday site yet, but I know David Klee and Melissa Connors are working on getting that set up.

Ditto. Was hoping to get there, but scheduling didn't work. I do keep an eye out for things in that area that I can come and attend. If nothing else, I'm working on my northern geography 😉

I'll be in Chicago. No Cleveland again this year because they keep scheduling it next to SQL Cruise.

I'd love to go to ME. First weekend I've set for Pensacola, so if it's then, I won't make it. If the second week, may try to go.

I was hoping to meet you, but family definitely comes first. I *really* hope we have one in Detroit this year. We skipped last year, but we're hopeful. Our president has a new job as a consultant, so we don't know what's going to happen.

How many Threadizens will be in Cleveland? Sounds like Jeff for sure. I'll be there also.

I'll be there as well. Wayne, I'm very much looking forward to your story about the query that ran too fast. 😉

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

I don't know. I haven't heard it yet. It ought to be something good, though.

  • Aaah...

I'm hunting for a thread from July this year (before 18th July) on an apparent missing exclusive lock and strange lock escalation behaviour. I posted extensively to it, I know it went multiple pages and I cannot find it now, not search here, not google.

Can anyone possibly help? Perhaps got a bookmark to it, or something?

    Ha! Found it. http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1703474-391-1.aspx

Detroit? Well, you can leave your snowboard at home unless you want to take on the challenging mountains... I mean hills of Mt. Brighton, Mt. Holly, Alpine Valley or Pine Knob...

Well, I've skiied near Traverse City.

Wouldn't mind doing some cross country out there in the winter, or hiking in the summer. Maybe Jeff can get me on the GM test track as well?

Near Traverse City, could have been Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, Nubs Nob, or The Homestead (very, very small).

I haven't made the trek yet to the Upper Peninsula but Mt. Bohemia (http://www.mtbohemia.com) is supposed to be the most extreme snowboarding east of the Rockies. My buddy has been organizing a trip called "Pow-Pow-Palooza" at Bohemia the past 5 years, swears it's the best snowboarding around.
