These requirements are written by a novice mate, pure gibberish.
😎
It looks like they took a bunch of general stuff and threw a bunch of buzzwords at it. Then throw it at the wall and see what sticks. Then they'll complain how hard it is to find "qualified" candidates and end up hiring an expert beginner with a glowing set of lies on their resume. I wish them all the best in finding someone to do whatever work they actually need done, whatever it is.

The Skill, Educational Background and Experience bullet points are a joke. This is the punch line:
?Experience with Kronos Timekeeper software, Remedy Action Request System, ERwin database design tool, Oracle and SQL Server databases is desirable.

Least it has the database engines listed. :hehe:Get's even worse with the use of 'NoSQL' or 'Hadoop'.
Yeah, but it shows Profiler
BURN IT WITH FIRE!
Grant, how about an article explaining why not to RDP to a problematic server and start the Profiler for diagnostics.
😎
Sounds good. Let me know when it's done.
Ha!

Woolly nebulous request of the month alert.I've been asked to look into ad-hoc reporting solutions so users can create their own reports.
All I know is it's a SQL Server back end.
I don't know:
- The level of the users skills; is it a BI person or anybody from the cleaner upwards.
- What level of reporting i.e. whether it's operational 'did this happen', whether it's month by month figures or both.
- How ad-hoc it will be; is there going to be data there to be queried or is the user (see above) going to have to bring it in themselves.
The client is also in Australia and isn't to know that I'm looking into this.
Any suggestions?
You might want to consider Tableau[/url]. It might require some user training but it's quite powerful in the right hands.

Finally, back from SQLPASS, after a week at Victoria Island and Portland to aid recovery.
Jason, thank you for publishing the photograph. I showed it to my wife as proof that I actually was there while she was cooling her heels in Seattle. Her response was "I didn't think they were making any more Addams Family movies". But I love her regardless.
Meeting so many people from SSC was terrific and made this conference even more enjoyable than the 2012 conference.
And Portland has an amazing book shop.

Does anyone here knows the site howtosql.com? I was searching for an old thread on Google and found that "I'm an author" for them. It was actually linking to forum posts in here which are hardly articles. The site has a "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" error, but I was able to check a cached version.
I'm not sure, but this seems almost like plagiarism.

I've never heard of them, but I got the same bandwidth error.

I wouldn't say "almost like plagiarism" I would say it is plagiarism unless they have redgate's permission to re-publish SSC stuff.

Depends if they're linking to or republishing. If they're linking, there's no plagiarism there, that would be like saying we can't link to Books Online from blogs.
If they're reposting the content, entirely another matter.

It seems to copy the OP for forum threads and then link to the thread to "read the full article". I'm not sure how that should be considered. And I'm not sure how much is SSC and how much is content from other sites or even unique content.

Anyone feel like stopping by to help me paint some rooms in my house Thanksgiving weekend? There'll be left-over turkey and I'll even spring for a case of beer...
Or a boomba from one of the local craft breweries...
(bear in mind, I wouldn't know good beer from bear piss, I'm not an imbiber)
