I was on my last eye twitch yesterday (so to speak) so I put together this image. (attached)I was thinking about unleashing it but then I thought maybe it was too much.
Could have called it 2 easy steps to forum happiness! I don't know what do you guys think? lol
It might be a bit much, but I know what you mean. It makes things so much easier to read.
I think the (sometimes arduous) task of getting people to post DDL, consumable sample data and expected output is more of a hindrance to being able to help people. The excuse of proprietary table design and PII is old. Table designs are just designs and I don't know what's confusing or ambiguous about the term sample data.
I admit that I'm quicker to help if someone takes the time to create a good post and actually asks a question.
Agreed...the main reason I hesitated was because it's hard enough getting DDL or sample data (which is way more important), that also asking for some formatting/prettification might be approaching wishful thinking territory.
Okay, I'm late, but I'm going to respond anyway.
I find that as you take the time to take your problem into generic, basic, reproducible code, you tend to find the answer for yourself.

I know that statement is absolutely true for me. Once I get so far "down the rabbit hole" and start to lose where I am in the maze, taking a step back and breaking down what I'm working on generally tends to help clear things up. It also helps to deescalate the frustration factor that comes up from time to time.

Going to PASS is on my list of objectives but due to lack of company interest in me I cant afford it as I have decided to go to IE2 instead, but I am still very curious about it. Can someone tell me what the difference is between Pre-Conference Sessions & "normal" Conference Sessions ??
A precon is an in-depth all day dive into one specific topic by a specific set of speakers (frequently just one, but there will be some that have a team of speakers there).
Normal conference sessions are just shorter (60/75/150 minutes).

No spare time this week, but given the cost impact of getting it wrong, he may want to get someone in to help design it, rather than relying on free help.

Really good summit.My lasting memories will be;
The Threadizens taking over one of the birds of a feather tables (don't tell anyone), and the photo!
Gail's hat for ArgenisWithOutBorders - I have photos I will start up loading tomorrow or Wednesday once I get home... Slight detour to Birmingham... As you do... Oh OK just me then!
Meeting the legend that is Lynn Pettis and having a really good chat with him.
Rob Farley knowing who I was!
Seeing and chatting to Kalen Delaney at least once each day... I think I have only met her 2 or 3 times before. Rob had to tell her who I was - So a double whammy in one go, who know Rob knew my name hehe...
The 'Escalator incident' - Grant knows all about that
Rodders...
Who knew there was instruction needed on proper escalator operation? I'll submit an abstract for the next Summit.
*COUGH*
Who knew you didn't have to actually press the emergency stop button to cause it to stop?
I was travelling in one direction, I just changed that direction! :O
Rodders...
hahaha
The emergency stop happens to be another incident at summit I witnessed.

Man o man... yet another self-proclaimed DBA bites the dust in the interview process as has another self-proclaimed "expert" Database Developer. It amazing how they don't know what they don't know. I'm not asking difficult questions so far because none have gotten that far, yet.
No takers on the job description I posted a while back?

Ditto. Plus, I'm not entirely qualified, much as I might wish I was. I'm sure I could learn it, but it sounds like you guys want someone who will hit the ground running.

Unfortunately, probably not for this one, Anthony. I will ask, though. Where do you call "home"?
