Put the keyboard down, pet the cat. Priorities! Now she's hissing at me because I made the mistake of trying to move my other hand to the keyboard. And now she's off the lap and chewing cables to show how unhappy she is.
Sigh. I can't do anything right today.
Good news is that I got my Samsung Evo 1TB SSD the other day. Bad news is that I can't seem to get my Windows 7 Business 32 bit cloned to it for some reason. The drive just doesn't like me. Samsung magician doesn't want to recognize it from an external housing, which means I can't check for a firmware update to see if that will help.
POUT.
Cats...
Get a dog. I just occasionally get a very wet palm as a nose shoves my hand off the keyboard for a good scratching.
And no stinky litter box to deal with. Just the occasional yard shoveling. 🙂
Indoor cats? No thanks! Our two go outside - with a litter box for emergencies only. The back lawn is surrounded by a bedding plant border and the roses in there sure seem to appreciate the extra nitrogen in the soil.
Individual cats seem to make up their own attention-seeking ruses. My cat taps me on the shin with one of her front paws. If that's insufficient, she'll stretch up with both - looking me in the eye as she does it. It's extremely cute. Usually it means "Chase me around the garden please!" so I do.

Ah yes. Stretching up the leg while looking you in the eye. One of the most diabolical ploys in a cat's repertoire of attention seeking ruses. I used to have a cat that would greet me when I came home that way nearly every day. It never failed to get him picked up and cuddled. Foul beasties they are, but they do have their ways to make those humans that they own feel wanted.
My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?
My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

A couple of my cats play fetch. The toy mouse (or feather on a string) gets dropped in front of my feet and I know it's time to play with the cat. The toy gets thrown, the feather gets picked up and starts flying around.
It makes for very happy cats who are, occasionally mind, happy to lap cuddle later on.

Ours won't play fetch. The youngest will play "steal the kill" with quite large things, most recently a piece of shiny green tinsel, the really thick stuff you wrap around big trees. It's about 6 times her volume. She nicks it from the xmas deccies box and waddles into the garden with it trailing between her legs.

The EVO's appear to be sensitive to the controller. I had a couple that I returned because they wouldn't connect with an external controller I had, despite the controller/cable working with other drives.
I switched to a different external box and controller and all of a sudden it worked. I tested the two controllers and cables on W8, W10, OSX, and seemed they worked with various SSDs, but not the EVO 850.

Found a handkerchief in the living room today that had been on a shelve in the bathroom. This from a cat who has several toys.:hehe:

An important difference between cats and dogs is how they react when punished.
Punish a dog for doing something bad and it thinks: "I'd better not do that again."
Punish a cat for doing something bad and it thinks: "I'd better not get caught doing that again."

You have to understand first that cat's don't do anything bad.

You mean that cats don't do anything they think is bad. 😛

Really? That's interesting.
Yesterday I managed to get the Toshiba cloned, and last night the Lenovo got recloned. After I get off work, I'm going to replace the drive on the Lenovo and see if I have a dual-boot machine or not.

Interesting. I haven't had that problem yet. I have tried multiple internal and external controllers. So far I have been very happy with the EVO drives I have.
