    Dang...

Now I'm going to have to leave it to the wife which one we go to Sunday (Saturday is booked.)

Of course, the Ren Fest last weekend is next weekend, the Gun (Fun!) show is this weekend only. So maybe some gentle nudging is in order...

If it were me, I'd go to the gun show. It doesn't come to Novi all that often and it's usually a big one, so it's worth the trip. I think that one has about 900 tables, which is bigger than just about any other one around. You do have one more weekend for Ren Fest.

Thank you, Jason, for making me aware of the gun show in Novi. My wife is going up north for a women's retreat, so it's just my daughter and I think weekend. We had already planned a trip to the range, which is just north of Novi, so it's only logical that we go to the show. Hmmm...me at a gun show and no wife to tell me "no" to anything. This could turn into a very fun and expensive weekend. :-D:-D:-D

Ooohhh! Now I need to figure out a way to keep the wife from going!

Maybe finally get the other range-queen gun I've been wanting...

But, yeah, we've decided to do the gun show Sunday, Ren Fest next weekend.

Just remember that if you buy a new toy, you have to feed it. Some are hungrier than others. 😉

My current hungry and expensive range-queen: Magnum Research Desert Eagle

Fun to take to the range, but at ~$2/rd, kind of pricey if you want to go often...

I don't even need to click the link to know exactly what it is. Do you have the .44 or .50?

Also, have you ever seen someone else shoot it in the late evening or at night? It puts out an impressive fireball for muzzle flash.

Oh come now, if you're going to get a Desert Eagle, go whole hog and get the .50!

    And yes, mine's the .50...

Which is why I can only manage about 12 rds before I have to pack it up and move to something with less kick...

If it ain't a cannon, why bother?

Then again, an M230 would be fun. More fun would be a the electromagnetic rail gun. But I need a SHIP to fire that one. Then again, maybe I could get it mounted on a train. Hmmmm....

I agree here, big boooomers are much more fun;-) During my diving days I did salvage couple of 20mm Oerlikons, a 4 inch (Mk XVI) and an 8 inch canon amongst other goodies;-)

    😎

The 20mm Oerlikon cannon they mounted on ships? Okay, I'm officially jealous.

    Read this then;-)

My favorite would be either the .338 Lapua AWSM or the .408 CheyTac, the latter, although half the weight of the .50 BMG it still delivers 8400 ft-lbf which is almost double the Lapua, enough to stop a bus.

    🙂

Seeing as I'm thinking of going up there after work, I'll try to remember to ask them.

Personally, as I get older, I don't want a cannon. Hard on the wrists and arms.

Just mount it to a turret.

...and break your back carrying the turret:-D

    😎

That's what the deuce and a half is for. You drive the turret to where you want to shoot, climb into the back of the deuce and enjoy!

Or one person drives, while the other is in the back - shooting.

    bahahaha

I think you have to have private land for that, plus being subject to the local laws is another consideration. Then again, with Eirikur's Oerlikon, all you need is a crew to staff the ship. I don't even want to think about the 20mm rounds - you'd probably need to have them made, which is well beyond my budget.
