    Does anybody know if SQL Relay Huddersfield is still going ahead? I had an email this morning and it wasn't listed as one of the venues. It's still on the website though.

    Never mind, I've just had the email telling me it's been cancelled. πŸ™

    That is annoying. I hadn't realised about Huddersfield.

    Week 2 is looking very strong, so Steve and Grant you have nothing to worry about. Cardiff is looking as though it could be quiet an event. I shall not see either of you at Birmingham :-P, but I guess the next day... And remember to dress up for the photos at SQL in the City πŸ˜‰

    Nottingham should have a good turn out as well, with Reading get the overflow from London.

    BWFC - can you make it to Notts? Or is that too far? I know it does go against the relay / tour idea though! They should come to you, etc...

    Are you going to go with all local drives or are you going to get your own SAN for the database files? πŸ˜€

    Ed: I've got a FreeNAS-based system, which I'll probably work on setting up with iSCSI, seeing as going to a full-fledged fibre-channel SAN would be way, way, way out of my budget...

    But initially, I think local drives.

    With the wind behind me I can get to Huddersfield as quickly as I can get to Manchester. Nottingham's about 2.5 hours away without roadworks and traffic so it's not really a contender. On paper it's actually (fractionally) quicker to get to the Brum event. The others are way out though. It's even more annoying because my boss had put a proposal to his boss that all three of us in the BI team went up to the Edinburgh event and it hadn't been dismissed outright.


    On two occasions I have been asked, "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" ... I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.

    I'll do my best. I went to one a couple of years ago when I was fresh out of the box and much of it went over my head. This time I know I'll get a lot more out of it so it will be a shame to miss out. I'll put it to the various bosses, there's no reason why they'd say no if they've already agreed to one. An 0530 set off is a bit off-putting though!
