Hey Brandie, you are still on my "bucket list" of people to meet in person from the SSC. And based on the disaster that was trying to meet Jack at my first summit. Quite literally ten minutes before I was leaving the party on the Thursday.... Then I bump into him almost straightaway last year on the Sunday...We'll need to sort out something!
Wow. People want to meet ME? And here I thought I was just one of the little people of the community. @=)
Yes, we definitely need to make something happen. I do want to do some of the bigger events, but I can't figure out how to get my employer to pay for it. I suppose I need to write my Database Fairy's Guide to SQL Server book sometime soon, make my mint, and use that to fund travelage.

Ha ha!
Trying to think of something witty to put here, but no really if I have met someone virtually, other via a blog, an answer to question, and especially here at the water Cooler, then you are down on the list to meet in person. π
Maybe the cross over into Fairly land might just make it a best seller - I hear from tech authors you don't write tech books to make money :O
So are you attending the Summit this year? I'm now slightly confused. Not difficult for me...

In that case you should come over the SQL Server Days at the end of September in Belgium.
I'll be there and a lot of the #sqlfamily as well.
It's just one Eurostar trip away π

Another thing to do in Seattle...of course the NW is known for having lots of microbreweries but what often goes unmentioned is that many of them also make their own rootbeer. Most of the local bars (not the big chain places) carry at least one of the local rootbeers on tap. If those are available at whatever watering hole you are in make sure to try one. The rootbeers around there are amazing!!!The blackberries up there are amazing too. Nom Nom Nom.
And don't forget about the Walla Walla onions (usually only available late spring into early summer). And best of all the geoduck, expensive but you can't them anywhere else on the planet!!!
I've seen gooeyducks [/url]here π Are they really that good? How do they compare to razor clams?
The only razor clams I have had are the ones from the Pacific NW. I assume the razor clams you are referring to are the ones from Northern Europe. The ones I have had are pretty good but there is something about the geoduck that is really tasty, assuming it isn't overcooked.

And that's about all the patience I have this week for 'tell me how to do my job' type posts. At least today's going to be a short work day.
If I may rephrase what you said Gail: "For free, please tell me how to do what I'm being paid to do. Oh, and be quick please."
It's going to be s shorter than normal workday for me too.
Hope you have a great weekend Gail, as well as everybody else.

But at the summit we have to get you and Brandie - Brandie you are going to the summit? - to meet Alex. Part of the organisers or Relay and he is coming to his first Summit π
Rodders...
I will be speaking this year at summit. So at the very least there is that opportunity to bring him my way if we can't seem to find each other. Just find my room and drop in.

Ah, but Gail, it's the people like this person that keep you coming back to help...
Didn't argue with your suggestions, and now is doing testing on their own to try to figure out what's going on and the best way to long-term fix it...

shucks!
Did I use that right?
OK Brandie, then you are on hold π
I know I am coming to Orlando next year, under pain of death from Karla if I don't.
Plus there will be SQL bits - which you have to come over for at least once. Just ask Gail, Steve and Grant!
Hopefully Dublin will be back on the SQL sat calendar next year. You have to do that one at least once. Well just ask anyone π
Other than that I guess it will be any other trip I make across the pound. Or the next summit, or the next, or ... You get the picture

16lb clams at $300 each. Quite a treat.
