    Brandie,

Now that would be cool. They have a bus, and it's sponsored this year :-), for taking speakers from each location to the next. So if people fancied speaking at all the events in a week then you can. I know a few people have thought about trying to tie either week 1 or 2 in with a holiday. But yes it wouldn't be cheap 🙁

Last year it was a mini bus. Not sure if it being sponsored this year means they have upgraded, but I'm guessing it not Rock Band tour bus status :w00t:

Yes, asking people to write an efficient query when you don't entirely know what you need is a really good way to get a useless answer....

Heh... reminds me of my cousin. As he sometimes says when in a panic, "I know I have to do something, even if it's wrong".

I know lot's of programmers that have that same mindset.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

Agreed, October is very full. And at least two of the organisers are going to the Summit - one is speaking, so its not as though they didn't know when that is. :O

Orlando and Turnin are on the 10.

As I am coming over again for the summit, I'm probably only going to make one of the Relay events. The bus sounded like fun last year :w00t:

Tom and BrainDoner and who else was interested in SQL Sat Manchester,

A tweet went out this morning saying it was full and there was a wait list...

And then a request for people to un-register if they can't make it...

I seen a couple of people on tweeter say they have un-registered, or will do.

    Cheers,

    Rodders...

    Thanks, Rodders.

There's still a wait list. Haven't a clue how long. With luck I'll pop off the front of it some time in the next 9 days.

  • So, we are now in mid July, should I start looking at airline and hotel reservations for the Summit?

Not as concerned about getting a flight to Seattle as I am getting a nice hotel close to the Summit. Ideas for hotels?

Budget: Red Lion seems to do well, but really anything in downtown Sea is walkable. The Space Needle area is a bit far, but doable, depending on the monorail.

there's also a good train service running to the airport, so anywhere along that route.

No Budget: I like the Sheraton (attached to the convention center) or the Homewood, but I get a nice, upgraded room there.

    That reminds me...

Got to book mine this week. Will try the Homeward this time!

But I think I need to fly back Friday night - really could do with being in the UK for Saturday... No guesses why!

It will be great to finally meet Lynn in person!

    Rodders...

  • SQL Sat Manchester...

Tom, you aren't in the UK are you? Are you planning a trip over for something else? If you are about on the Saturday it could be worth popping along as there is normally a drop out on the day. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris and the team send out emails asking for people to un-register if they can't make it. So I would say the chances are high you will get bumped... I'll be there from about 2 pm on the Friday, but I'm going to assume that will be too late to let you know anything?

    Relay

Steve - cool, you'll have fun at both. If Steff and Oz do in Cardiff what they did the last time I went, you will drown in coffee - they ordered in especially from Starbucks, funny having to take these huge containers of coffee to the break out area.

Also for Jason, Brandie and anyone else who like the idea of Relay but can't make it this for what ever reason, especially if you would like to speak - wrong time of year, travel etc, leave your comments and I'll pass them on to the gang running it. They are a good bunch!

I agree with Steve on all this. I stay at the Sheraton, but my company is paying for it. Even if my company isn't paying I try to find a roommate at the Sheraton because it is convenient especially if for dropping off your stuff before you head out for the evening events.
