Yes I think you mentioned it a while ago!
Me - OK. Back from Edinburgh after helping out with the SQL Sat. Extended until October here in Reading. Looking to move Midlands / Leciestershire way either later this year or early next, so let me know if they are looking π - I never realized they were based in Leamington Spa. π

They're currently looking for a permy DBA, if you know of anyone in the area. Christian B still looks after architecture and Rich D comes in from time to time to assist, but I don't think they'll be looking for more contractors for a while.
This gig finishes in 5 weeks, any crumbs left in Reading? The commute is killing me, 3 1/2 hours a day!

Chris,
Ask Alex Whittles about any DBA's in the area looking. I get the Midlands job alert he / the User Group set up. So worth asking him to add it the mailing list. They also have a UG coming up soon - SSIS focused thought - Steph Middleton is presenting.
This place doesn't want any extra contractors - only looking for perm.
I've had a few agency people LinkedIn recently but no follow up emails. Always assumed they would have a job they wanted to tout hence the LinkedIn request. The alternative is they are thinking ahead - scary thought!
But if I hear of anything I'll let you know.
Avis might be looking? Can always ask MPM?

Caught a stone on my way home with my new (to me) truck. Did not crack that day but I noticed it a week later. Only $100 out of pocket for windshield even though my deductible is $500.Some states have different deductibles for glass breakage and cover it under the "comprehensive" category on your car insurance. The collision coverage is the expensive and the one that has the greatest impact on your premiums when you raise your deductible. I found that the $2 a year saved by having a high deductible on comprehensive wasn't worth it.
Some states actually have laws requiring insurance companies to replace windshields (Florida) because of the visibility issues. In cases like that, there is little-to-no deductible.

Apparently it was only filmed that way because Harrison Ford had eaten something that disagreed with him and didn't want to spend too long away from his trailer. The original intent was for a much longer fight.
Ford actually had malaria at the time. That's why he was sweating so much. They'd refilmed that sequence a few times and he was sick and tired, so just shot the sword guy. The other actor was so good that he just went with it. Hence the reason the scene was good enough to keep.

So, been playing with using Extended Events to track use of deprecated features before we migrate to SQL2012. I'll admit to cheating and creating the session in SQL2012 then scripting it out and "tweaking" it to work in SQL2008R2. That part was easy.
The fun part was figuring out how to query the XML data for what I want, rather than trying to read the XML directly.
Now to continue to putter around with xQuery / xPath to get it formatted even better...

Nah, most of the xQuery / xPath were based on examples from other sites. I'll admit, the .value method took me a while to figure out, but I've at least got the ground floor now...
Now, if I wanted to make folks look bad, I'd say we're migrating to SQL2016 already...
:hehe:

I couldn't even find the Millenium Falcon.
Wiki lists the Millennium Falcon at 34.75 meters in length, so in the scale of the image that is a mere 3.5 pixels. I suspect it was left off for fear it may be mistaken as a speck of dust.
I am unfamiliar with "Dahak" as a ship.
No doubt there are many others omitted. But you gotta admire the work and attention to detail that went into this.
Note: I am now reading Starhammer (Christopher Rowley) which somehow escaped my attention many years ago when I discovered the Vang.
My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?
My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

The ship whose controlling AI (also called Dahak, of course) is one of the principal characters in David Weber's 3 volume Dahak series. It's a spherical ship, 2159 miles in diameter.
