Are the posted questions getting worse?

3 words? So he should have said: "Me, I might be getting too old for this business." 😛

  • So I'm curious about this (I'm trying to understand how SSC works):

Then the comment is not there...

    SMH...

Why would the person who wrote the procedure ask on a public forum why his procedure is returning a value of -6 when executed?

Just tell the OP that he needs to whip the cream longer!

My guess is that the OP doesn't have the ability to "read" the code, if he did he wouldn't have asked in the first place.

    😎

BTW: probably a negated authentication failed error number (6)

The fun part is that the OP wrote the code. But maybe, he's able to write code but he's not able to read it. :hehe:

If you think that's strange you clearly have no experience of security designed by public servants (aka government bureaucrats).

I'm sure the really, really sensitive stuff (such as the IRS systems) are very secure.:hehe:

So I'm curious about this (I'm trying to understand how SSC works):

Then the comment is not there...

There are a bunch of them by him. He has been banned. It appears he can post but then the post is wiped from the site.

But the image does raise another interesting thing. Last Post By: By

Does that strike anyone else else as odd odd?

Yes it does. I got an email notification that he posted to a topic I'm subscribed to, but the link results in the page displaying an error, just like the Last Reply link on the Recent Posts page. His profile still exists with the same picture. So perhaps this is a case where he can login and post whatever he wants, but the details don't appear...only the summary info. Just a guess on my part.

Another case of grabbing code off the internet and implementing it without understanding, from the sounds of it.

In which case the site code should be changed to read the Last Post before the banned post so that it can properly display the last post that anyone is able to read.

That could have some performance implications. I don't know the structure, but it could mean a subquery is needed to exclude the banned users from the TOP 1 returned with the topic summary row.

    Should be as simple as

    ..TOP(1)...

    WHERE POST.VISIBLE = TRUE;

Oh they want help, but the only help they want is the final solution. They don't want to have to do anything more than copy and paste.

If you're not supplying one of those little white jackets that tie in the back, then no. I don't want help.

A cubicle with padded walls would be nice too.
