Wow, what some people expect us volunteers. The OP just PMed me with all the info that had been posted on the forum thread. Apparently he deleted because other classmates saw his post.
And hopefully called him out for being a chump. I wonder if these people realize that in the real world not having a clue how to do your job will get you a pink slip.
Is that what people get when they're promoted over there?
hehe no they usually get three envelopes. π

A few folks are likely to get a pink slip over this!

This is Russia we are talking about. I somehow doubt it will be a pink slip. More than likely, someone will disappear on the way home from work. If a scandal erupts, then that person will be publically taken to trial. If no scandal, they'll just never be heard from again.

They're posting information about the cost of it. Let's see...we have a vessel free-falling to earth and they're concerned about the cost, no where it's going to land. :ermm:
Brandie, there might be a couple of people disappear over this one.

Steve, my brother is getting hitched on the 4th of July weekend in Breckinridge. I'm not sure we're going to be able to make it, but assuming we do go, is there stuff for a 3 yr old to do for several days that will preserve our (and his) sanity? I'll even take recommendations for Denver, since we could head back to the city after the 4th and fly out a few days later.we're not hikers or climbers, we're flat landers who are old and fat but have a kid. Museums/indoor waterpark are more our speed.
suggestions?
Three year old, Colorado Springs has Santa's Workshop. My kids loved going there from the time they could walk (my oldest now has a 3 year old, 18 month old, and 3 day old) and they still like going there.
We would get there before they opened and stay there until they closed.
Of course you also have Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs and the Denver Zoo up in Denver. Our kids like both.
My wife and I live in Arizona and when we travel to higher altitudes (such as Denver) we swear by a product called Aquagen Maximum Performance Oxygen. It oxygenates your blood system. We start taking it two days before we travel and find we rarely have shortness of breath. Research it and see if it is something you want to try/use.

Thanks Bill, but I'm going to call "placebo effect" on that one. The site can't even say what's in their own product, other than distilled water and "trace minerals", and they're calling it "liquid oxygen", which would boil into gas at -297 F. Maybe you could say this was a thing if you were selling oxygenated water under pressure, but it looks like an eyedropper basically, so that can't be it. You could always add the oxygen and a little carbon, (and a whole bucket of sugar) and then you'd just be drinking soda pop!
That is always possible and I never claimed anything else except that it works for my wife and I. It's also why whenever I recommend it I suggest the person research it for themselves. I'm 55 and do a lot of hiking. I find that when I'm at higher altitudes and don't use it...I get short of breath real easy. But I never have issues when using the product. Placebo? Maybe...but as I said, I see results and that is good for me.

So, looking forward to tomorrow afternoon...Heading out to the movies for a double feature at 4pm, first up, The Avengers (NOT the one based on the British TV series) followed by The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Same, for same(ish) reason. Avengers: Age of Ultron followed by a boardgaming evening.

Because it won't survive re-entry. Small fragments might make it to ground, but the majority will burn up in the atmosphere. It's not a controlled decent.
Bear in mind that these cargo ships normally are filled with garbage and then sent back into the earth's atmosphere to burn up. This one's just bypassing the 'docking, unloading and reloading' phases

I figured it would, being 160 miles away, but nothing I read even addressed it. I didn't know if this was one of those cases where the bureaucrats intentionally avoid stating the obvious so they have plausible deniability later. Even if it does survive, the odds say that it'll land in the water. I guess it just bugged me that they're worried about monetary cost and didn't even address re-entry.

ISS's orbit is only 400km (250 miles). The cargo ship got to orbit, it's just out of control. Think of the heat that the space shuttle got when it landed, and that was a controlled re-entry from the same kind of altitude.

Steve, I am having zombie subscriptions. tried to unsubscribe to notifications from The Thread three days in a row now, with no luck. Not that I don't love you all, but I know where you hang out, I don't need emails...
I blame Lynn, by the way, since he keeps saying he's not getting enough notifications.

You should be able to manage this in the control panel (just above the header above) for the forums.
I think I deleted your sub, but let me know if you don't get this.
