I might be imagining this but does anybody else think the titles of the spam posts are getting more like the titles of genuine questions. I saw one today that mentioned Excel and I reported one yesterday that if I remember rightly had the word tables or something similar in there. I've seen others in the last couple of days that looked like more than just a coincidental string of words.

Need some advice, all. I'm about to rewrite a novel of mine and I need references for research. My protagonist (the star) is humanoid but not human.I know there are science fiction books out there with such a theme, but I'm drawing blanks. The only things I can come up with are Alien Nation (which I've read and watched), Dune, and the Chronicles of Riddick. I'm assuming on the last two because I haven't actually read them. Couldn't get through the first chapter of Dune and have not tried Riddick yet.
Any thoughts or suggestions of what could meet my criteria?
The "Alien" series of movies had a dandy couple of androids and you can't leave out the "newer" series from Battlestar Galactica where the many of the Cylons were very human-like, indeed.
John Hurt - terrific and terrifying performance as dinky alien's first baby meal.

Thanks for letting us know you write other than SQL Server related stuff. Just looked you up on Amazon and got "A Child's Eyes and Other Stories" which you have written for.

Oh, yeah. I've written almost 2 dozen short stories at this point and a lot of Shadowrun RPG stuff. But most of my stuff is going out of print shortly (if it hasn't already). I need to get it reprinted as soon as I can find reprint markets.

Ah, yes, but I'm trying to avoid writing my novel like a movie. That way lies madness. Too many people think they can do prose like the movies and it never ends well. The novels become a mess. But thank you for the suggestion.
And thanks everyone for the book references and links. I'm adding them to my list of references for the project.

There was an Ace Special published in the 90s that was on this topic. I can't find my copy of it in the house for some reason and don't recall the title. The plot was using replicated humans for exploring planets. They'd be purpose built and thrown at the world after training. Funny thing in the book is that they recorded everything that happened to them and the training films were called "Oh Sh*ts" because that was frequently the last words on the video. It was very much in the style you're looking at.

I could use some VB.NET help (pretty simple stuff, in my opinion, but my googlefu fails me) over here please.
Thing is, Google keeps giving me how tos on everything BUT the text property I'm trying to change. I don't want to change font size or the label name or the color of the label. Why oh why does Google hate me today?

I always wanted to get a shirt made:
SELECT COUNT(*)

Ed, I know a guy who will do that. Email Don Myers at T-Shirt Bordello. He won't make just one, but he'll make it and sell to the public.

Wouldn't mind one of these:
SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM dbo.Users
WHERE EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM Clues)
(0 row(s) affected)

If it doesn't already exist, Don would likely make it. If it does exist, he won't interfere with someone else's copyright. He also pays for T-Shirt Ideas.
