Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • Innocent victim of the spam filter?

Someone apparently tried to post an attachment to a thread.

I got this notification in my email, which is a dead end:

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost1653774.aspx

In the thread itself someone is wondering what happened with his post.

I've need seen you since you got your MCM. I'm presenting in Cleveland again this year. See you there. Ed Wagner will be with me, as well.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

I'd like to do both, but can't do either.

In fact, I have no SQL Sats this quarter.

  • I'm hoping that anyone with knowledge of older versions of .Net Framework and Crystal Reports might be able to help me with this one:

My mantra: No loops! No CURSORs! No RBAR! Hoo-uh![/I]

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?

    My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.

I'm honored, ol' friend. If you'd like, I could send you Part 1. With your level of knowledge, you would easily make it through that on your own. The important parts are animated to add some revelation to the slides.

I also see that they're scheduled Colleen Morrow's "Enterprise-level auditing on a Standard Edition budget" session at the same time as mine. Considering her subject, I'd love to sit in on that one and then follow hers as a segue and even refer to it or vice versa.

I've seen your good presentation before and the article that preceded it. That's one of those articles/presentations that should be required for anyone beginning to learn much more advanced SQL because knowing the benefits and differences can really make or break Divide'n'Conquer code and you do a really good job of explaining it all.

    So....

What's the superhero costume of choice here? SQL Bits is a month+ away, with the theme of superheroes for the Friday night party.

Need to get ordering something to take with me.

Steve, drawing a blank on Cowboy Super Heroes, there must be one that had a penchant for wearing Hawaiian shirts when not as the Super Hero ? 🙂

    Rodders...

I don't know that Jonah Hex ever wore Hawaiian shirts, but he's a cowboy comics hero. (Not sure about the "super" part either).

Does it have to be from the comics? What about 80's cartoons like Bravestarr or the Galaxy Rangers?

I haven't got any clue for a costume. Maybe cheat, buy a green hoodie and go as Arrow (but without a bow due to airline luggage restrictions)

Flight and accomodation booked for SQLBits!

It's going to be my first time at Bits and I hope to enjoy it as much as I can.

Also, I hope to finally shake hands with (some of) you Threadizens! I know your faces and I will try to find you on saturday (yes, saturday only for me this year...).

If you want to meet me, just look for a 2 mt. tall curly man with a lost look in his eyes! 😀

Yep - I'll be there and am looking forward to it. There are several sessions I'm looking forward to seeing. There were a couple I would have enjoyed that didn't make the cut, but I think that's how it always goes.

I look forward to meeting you, Wayne. It's nice when you can put a face with a name.

Argh. Coffee on my keyboard, dammit.

I hope it wasn't good coffee that you spilled. Oh yeah, and that your keyboard is okay. 😀 If you're typing that, I presume that it's okay.

It was very good coffee, pure Guatemalan Arabica. Keyboard not too bad as it was unsweetened black, nose was a bit sore as that was mostly the exit point, due to unexpected laughter in response to Siobhan's previous post.

    That hurt.
