    No capes!

    ...

Do you remember Thunderhead? Tall, storm powers? Nice man, good with kids.

    ...

November 15th of '58! All was well, another day saved, when... his cape snagged on a missile fin!

    ...

Stratogale! April 23rd, '57! Cape caught in a jet turbine!

    ...

Metaman, express elevator! Dynaguy, snagged on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex!

    ...

    No capes!

Don't worry about it. Some people just have to nitpick everything.

Boy, it seems like my questions are getting worse lately. Taking a beating in the QoD.

The question of today wasn't bad at all. A bit simple maybe (because there was this big discussion last week about aggregates and NULL, so I am amazed people still got it wrong). People just being pedantic over rows vs nulls.

My guess is that the people complaining today are the same ones that got it wrong because they just don't understand the concept. The question today was a good one imho.

Although I have to admit you're a bit generous with the points lately Steve.

But I don't mind, it brings me closer to Grant mwoehahahahahahaha.

I agree. I almost picked the wrong answer then I looked at the query again. I wasn't registering the * initially. It was a good question.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

Maybe I'm in a weird head-space at the moment, but it seems like the questions have gotten... not worse, but weirder. Sort of off the wall, no?

My mantra: No loops! No CURSORs! No RBAR! Hoo-uh![/I]

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?

    My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.
