  • Since I've seen a few notes, and the Thread is quiet....

Test drove a few cars over the weekend. After selling the 911, I'm looking for a mid-size SUV to replace it. Tried a 2011 Tahoe (nice), a 2009 Cayenne (nice, but not great), a 2012 RX350 (nice, my daughter likes this), a 2011 X5 (really nice), and a 2015 CX-9 (ugh, not my thing). I am leaning towards the x5 or RX350, both of which seem to be OK for 4 six footers, which is what I need.

However, the RX has me intrigued. I also drove a '99 RX350, at a dealer, with 324k miles on it. I was surprised how good the condition was, and while it felt a little old, it drove well and started right up in the snowy, 30F weather. This is after we had two days of < 20F. That was impressive. Only driven one car, a commuter sedab, with 300k miles on it. Thinking Toyota and Lexus are doing something right.

Interesting. I'll be car shopping when I get home. I'm not sure if I want a car or a truck.

  • Wow. I haven't posted to The Thread since last year... Anyway, hello again everyone.

Me updates... I'm hoping to convince my bosses to pay for PASS this year since I can't afford it on my own. Wish me luck on that.

Trying to find a good book on learning C#.Net or VisualBasic.Net (or both). Recommendations?

Twiddling thumbs as a process runs in QA, watching for page splits. Fun, yes?

    Waiting for the next meeting.

Still fighting the good fight to get new servers. If I'm lucky, we'll get them before I turn 100.

Good luck on getting to PASS, I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I really like the WROX Press books. I read one on C#.Net and it helped a lot.

  • Quick technical question (don't hurt me!). Google Fu refuses to tell me the max size of an object variable in SSIS 2008. Anyone know this off the top of their head?
