Wow, that's a complete disaster. I wouldn't just be "downloading data to make sure I had access during the outage" I'd be looking for new providers and rethinking my own data center.

I agree.
I have a client using Azure that recently experienced a 12+hr outage (caused by Azure maintenance) and they were considering alternatives. That is a long time.

Really! Huh. I'm surprised MS didn't make it invisible by shifting them around.
Of course, if you're using the TDS drive, that's not as easy as it sounds, but surely they could do it.

Yeah, we were too. The client has all of the serves (including the 2nd nodes of AG servers) in different zones to try and accommodate for those problems. It just so happens that this outage affected multiple zones.

I think that was the Connection server outage. That one really hurt. The services themselves were online, but no external connections were getting in across most of the northern hemisphere.
I don't think the tech is perfect, but it's probably as good or better than your average system uptime.

Wow! Thank you very much for posting that. I don't feel so bad about having a 2-hour blackout window scheduled every once in a while. But 48 hours? :w00t: Makes me think they have a small problem in there somewhere.

Ah, that makes sense. Can't connect and it is useless. Let's hope they've worked some redundancy in there.

I agree completely. Maybe a nice enhancement would be to conditionally add a button in a thread that you are subscribed to that would allow users to unsubscribe or change the settings for a given thread without having to dig through the thousands of threads that I am subscribed to. For example, this thread would be nice to unsubscribe when going on vacation and set it up again when returning. Would be a pretty cool (and should be pretty easy) feature to add. That would be a great addition.
Add another vote for this one - good idea.
Sounds like an excellent idea to me.
