I Like Gail's response on that thread:
Why all this hassle with OPENROWSET? What's wrong with SSIS or the import/export wizard? This is exactly what those tools are there for. Why don't you try using one of them and stop trying to hammer a nail with a crowbar.

You know what? I think some of us (me included) really need a vacation in some far off exotic locale. Too bad I can't afford one...
We ought to just pick a spot that works for all of us with respect to location, load up on food and our favorite cocktails and just hang out for a couple of days, sort of a DBA "Woodstock". It doesn't have to be exotic, just someplace nice would be fine by me, where we can just rant, rave and relax. How's that for the three 'R's??
Edit: Maybe planned around one of the conferences so that some of our "buddies" from across the pond can join us. I would love to meet Gail, among others.....

Time to grab the pork chops out of the freezer, and the liquid nitrogen.

I liked the answer from Window washer "Are you using SQL Server 2005 Express" and the answer "I am using SQL Server 2005" 🙂Reminds me of the answers I sometimes get from my kids when I ask them questions. Doesn't really answer the question.
Mine would give answers something like,
"In a minute", "Why", "it doesn't matter", "Stop hasseling me"
or a distainful "don't you know that"

Can't afford it either.

A sometimes you can't wait for them to move out of the house. I have one graduating Saturday. Leaves for a week in Germany on Monday (visiting a friend stationed there), and then she is off to the Army at the end of July. I'll be honest, I'll miss her, but not her attitude!

Not meant to be exclusive. How about a SQLServerCentral "Woodstock"? But I guess we'd still have to be exclusive to a certain degree. Some of our "favorite" posters should only be invited for the "pork chop throwing invitational". 😀

Well, maybe the Army will make a man out of her. Wait, that's not right. 🙂

The person going in is not the person that will come out. I really expect to she her grow a lot while in the military. She is already looking at Green to Gold, and is setting her eyes on retiring as a Colonel. If she does, more power to her and I wish her all the luck in the world.
She is a strong willed individual and she usually gets what she sets her mind to.

Isn't that the truth. My oldest went away for college last fall. Sweet as could be whenever we talked while she was away and even when she came home for short visits. I attributed it to the maturing process. HA! Came back home on May 1st and by the 2nd, same old attitude!!

Yea, yea, I know. That's your story and you're stickin' to it. 😉
Actually, I like the idea as well for the "SSC Woodstock".
