Are the posted questions getting worse?

In an unrelated topic, have you ever seen a code and want to vomit but after formatting it you just want to cry? I really can't understand how things continue to work in my office.

Yes. Just before I read this post. Of course this was 3rd-party application code I had an issue with so I can't even change it.

That sounds like a good and bad news. And the good news sound great.

Thank you for the update, Steve.

And after dissecting the logic one starts to question the meaning of life?

    Thanks, a couple updates.

We implemented ASKIMET for posts. This took effect today and shouldn't slow things down, but we are evaluating and discarding SPAM posts. Let me know if things affect you.

We had some networking issues at Rackspace and a failover of the cluster this week. Might have been the perf stuff, but keep an eye out.

    Thanks

FWIW - it seems the slowness of the past few days is back.

Possibly, in the cases when I posed a question then found the answer I try to reply "Cracked it by . . . ." (or even admit I was doing something wrong :w00t: - just as a courtesy (got "encouraged" to do that by Jeff M many years ago)

There are naive questions, tedious questions, ill-phrased questions, questions put after inadequate self-criticism. But every question is a cry to understand (the world). There is no such thing as a dumb question. โ€• Carl Sagan

Congratulations, Grant! Well done! Now go be that positive-direction, common sense voice. Good luck with it.

And thanks, Luis, for posting this. I voted but got busy so I didn't think to check on the results.

I've done that too. If I've spent hours trying to figure something out, the chances are one day there'll be somebody trying to do the same. In this case the OP had 'resolved' it once, then came back saying it didn't work and had been repeatedly asked for sample data without providing it so I'm a bit suspicious ๐Ÿ™‚

On a separate note, congrats Grant.

Yes, but that makes me reconsider what I think I know. sometimes things aren't as bad as I've been taught to believe.

And I realize that there's way more tolerance for error and mistake in the world than I ever considered.

  • Congrats, Grant
