We like grilling and are going through propane rather quickly this year, but no smoking. My wife doesn't really like the taste/smell, so cooking outside is simpler here.
My wife does not like smoked anything and my youngest is not too excited by it either. My oldest son and I however are both rib fanatics!!!

I didn't even know about smokers until I lived in Florida for 4 years. My whole family loves smoked food (ribs, chicken, pork).

I'm fueling up my motorcycle, packing a small backpack, and will be visiting each and everyone one of you on the days that you say your meat's ready.
I don't have the time or patience for smoking (or setup, etc)... but I do love good meat. π
Every time I come into the thread for the last two days I end up searching for food within 30 minutes!

I'm lucky in that my wife and daughter both like grilled and smoked food. I only wish I had the time to use the smoker more often than I do.

Pack up the bike and head this way. I will be happy to put you up and give you some freshly smoked animal carcass. We can even head out to some of the local places. We are kind of known to have a decent BBQ place or two around. π I can have a batch ready any day you say you are coming out. What do you like best and I will pick some up at the butcher.

That is one of the beautiful things with a propane smoker. I can turn it on and it is up to operating temp in about 20-30 minutes. Then doing something small (chicken thighs, pork chops, etc) I can use it pretty much any evening I can stand to be outside. I leave the larger pieces for the weekend when I have more time. I typically smoke something at least once a week if not a little more.

Kansas City? Yeah...maybe a good BBQ place or two. π That's one of the four distinct BBQ styles in the country.

I'm jealous, but it sure sounds like a good goal for me to work on. I have a propane smoker, complete with wood box and water tray. It'll do about 100 lbs tops and it does heat up pretty quickly. I like doing the larger pieces to make the investment of time more worthwhile, but maybe I'll try doing smaller stuff and see if it can be done in an evening.

Here's a couple pics of my propane smoker. It is deceptively big. I can fit 3 full slabs of baby backs on each of the 6 racks. If I add in my rib rack I can get even more in there. However, it is also relatively small so cooking just a few small items is no big deal. Things like chicken thighs or porkchops only take an hour.
Yikes!!! I included the images and the blew out the whole site. Not sure why they are so large.

Yeah you guys are really making it tough to get much work done outside of cleaning up the slobber from thinking about bbq and smoked meat all day for the past week.

I will bottle some of the air and send it your way. Not sure how well it will transfer but we can try. You can always get one of the "smoked meat" scented candles. π

I am pretty sure KC is on my list for SQLSat next year at this point.
Either that or get a client in the area π

heh works for me. Would be great to meet in person. I might need to rent out an entire hotel if everyone is coming for BBQ but that is fine by me. I can always borrow my neighbors smoker too, it is HUGE. (see pic below)

I'm like a little kid waiting for my new smoker. Unfortunately, I'm on a course for the week after it arrives so I'll have to wait before I get to use it. I'm thinking of some kind of Jack and Coke marinade for ribs at the mo.
If you're in the North of England ever, you're welcome to come and share. I always make far too much for two of us and my wife does a damn good coleslaw. We've also got prizes for our bread and cakes :smug mode:.
