Oh thank goodness a reasonable answer. It isn't varchar(7) it is datetimeoffset(7)

That's disappointing--I was kind of hoping that the VARCHAR(7) date would turn out to be the octal number of days since March 17th 1936, or something equally exotic. πŸ™‚

If I wasn't going to have anything to do with the database, I'd probably hope for that too.

  • PSA for the day...

If you're moving into a new home, make sure to take off at least a couple days before your move-in date to have a less stressful move. Coordinating everything with the wife via text and e-mail because she took the time off and you didn't is a royal PITA...

    The more you know!

Yes, I'm moving into a new house Saturday, and have been working every day. The wife is doing her best to coordinate packing, movers, deliveries, etc to the new house, but needs my input. Then after work I've been going to the new house to hang curtains, blinds, and ceiling fans, plus dealing with problems with the cable (either the salesguy forgot to put HD on the order, or I forgot to order it {and I'm leaning towards the former}) Still need to build a set of steps for the back door (no patio / deck as yet, so it's a 2ft step down right now...)

Plus, Patch Tuesday was this week, so I need to get my QA servers patched up and watch for problems...

    (head explodes)

Sounds like a great time. Congratulations on the new house and move, but my condolences on having to move and set up a whole new home. Yes, definitely take a couple of days off. You know, I hear there's still 1.5 days left before Saturday. Don't worry about the 2 foot step for right now...moving in and being able to sleep there is more important.

Thanks, and yeah on the condolonces...

Still want to get some Cat5e strung, but that's gotten kicked so far down the list...

As for the step, it's going to wait, but not long, as the dog can't make the 2ft jump and she's going to want in, out, in, out, in, out...

    :hehe:

Heh - We just got our driveway paved with asphalt on Tuesday (the day before the rain) and our dog doesn't know what to do any more. He can't tell where he's gone before, so he wanders around sniffing for where to go. I don't think I'll ever understand why location is so important to a dog in determining where to pee.

Dog gets to a new place, it wanders about and lays down boundary markers (scent). You tarmac over the boundary markers, the dog is still in the same place but some of its boundary markers have disappeared - very confusing for poor old dog.

It's important to humans as well. If you don't believe me, try peeing in the living room. πŸ˜€
