I posted a question here (http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1593226-391-1.aspx) on Memory Grants and Varchar(max) and I'd love to hear any opinions the people in this thread might have. For some reason when I click the link I'm brought to the THREAD and not to your post. Is THE THREAD taking over all links on the site:crazy:
I corrected the link in this post π
Thanks. Did I err in using " around the url?
Yes, if you include them it will only reference the current page. You did the same with your post.

Anybody? Can anybody please step in again and try helping me with WC? Frustrated, can't seem to get him to realize I just don't know what he is trying to accomplish. Encrypt data in place? Encrypt in place and then transfer to another database (possibly on a different server)?Tried to point out some of the issues that need to be considered. Now he thinks I'm offended and/or angry. Nope, just frustrated.
I actually thought I would try and help at the beginning but I misunderstood what was required. Thought the others were doing a good job and did not look back after page 2.
Been busy today and not able to get to "Anything that is NOT about SQL!" much. Wow!
Hope it works out for everyone.

Got it. Fixed here and in the post.

Sorry St. Lynn, but nope. I don't ignore people but that particular person frustrates me as much as K does (you know him if you've argued with him) but for different reasons. When they ask a direct and straightforward question, I'll help. When they're looking to be forcefed via silver spoon, I no longer wish to help that particular person.

I decided long ago that this person is unable to grasp what is required for them to be successful. As a result I might glance at their thread but pretty much just move on. I really enjoy helping others and turning in the right direction when they need help but this person is more like a beggar on the street. The more handouts you give them, the more they ask for and the less they are able to fend for themselves. I would not want SSC to become one of "those" places, like SO where "you aren't worthy" but seriously...
+1. I've added him a while ago to my "to avoid list".
How cruel/arrogant/whatever that may sound...

Not to me. I have my own mental list of people who I will help if they post enough details but won't put much effort into. It isn't a long list but it avoids me getting frustrated. I figure I can help them fix their code by teaching them the proper methodologies, but I can't fix their stupid. π

I'm trying, but I don't think I'm getting anywhere. If he looks to SSIS for anything, I'm done. Like I just told him, I don't know SSIS beyond spelling it, and I've even gotten that wrong a couple of times. π
I know what you mean about frustration. And Kraig, my compliments on your definitions.
