David gave him most of the answer already but he didn't try to do anything with it other than say it doesn't work.

Actually Lynn's solution looked like my first attempt which I deleted as it did not seem to fit the OP's requirements.

    Go figure πŸ˜€

    That's just too funny.:hehe:

Sounds like test taking, sometimes you just have to go with your gut instincts from the start. David's solution gave me the starting point for mine.

It is scary how people manage to get into working with databases and then expect others to bail them out when they are in over their head.

And the begging and whining for help just makes it worse.

Don't you find this daily on the site?

Some are worse than others. How about three posts in a row from the OP begging for help? I mean, really? Still makes me wonder how they got their job in the first place.

Yeah that was a bit excessive. To boot, he had a duplicate thread claiming he would get fired if somebody didn't give him the answer.

Is it bad of me that my initial reaction is "Good!"? I've learned to just close those posts when I open them and see that instead of chewing on the poster, but I laugh while I walk away.

Paraphrased from G'Kar: "Do? I will do... nothing! I don't need to, you'll die on your own and none of mine will be hurt for it."

Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

I love it when we don't have to do the actual weeding out. Bad news is that he will be on the market... but now as a senior dba.

    It was an awesome game.

The US team (actually just the goalkeeper ;-)) put up quite a fight.

Don't forget Green! Not his fault he was only in for 13 minutes. That was the most exciting goal I've ever seen.

I think the coach was too defensive-minded.

Was a great game. Thought the US was going to pull off a shocker late goal to send it to penalties.
