Are the posted questions getting worse?

Just saw a post (on another site) that the person had part of a query list but no quest was asked. Someone posted "What is your question?" and the post back "It's in my original post." It was not.

It'd be great if someone posted a query with no question and when asked "What's your question?" the reply was "Oh, no question, I'm just proud of this one."

Yeah. I had this happen once in the SSIS forums. Some guy posted a solution for refreshing the metadata of the data flow. He was apparently pretty proud of that. When I pointed out there was an alternative that was easier and linked to a few blog post of a SQL Server MVP, he accussed me of shamelessly promoting that blog (which wasn't my own btw) and that I should leave his post alone (although it is a public forum).

I just don't understand that attitude - if I've put something together, and someone points me to something that does the job more easily (and someone else is going to support it TOO?!), I'm junking my maintenance overhead and grabbing it with both hands and a thanks to whoever told me.

    I'm a DBA.
I'm not paid to solve problems. I'm paid to prevent them.

Nono, BCP is from before the wheel, so they couldn't create the crank. It's just a giant lever over a boulder. There's still a particular Neaderthal or two around here who say it's still the bestest thingie... 😛

Pretty sure you aren't talking about me but I have found BCP to be quite useful.

Nope Lynn, I was particularly nudging a single individual with that. 😎

Jason, that's not the Neanderthal's, PCP didn't come out really until the Hippies were loose. That was much later than prehistoric times. They had the wheel then, donchaknow. They had to grind the pills up!

You are absolutely right, it is as useful as a long sharp stick when one has to fight off certain managers;-) The down side is that it brings one down to they'r level of technology.

Slightly lost here, are you referring to someone that sprinkles BCP on any high velocity pork rib around?
